Art museums often use a curatorial order in organizing their shows. This arrangement may be chronological, historical, geographic, or based on some other principle, but it makes judgements of quality, value, and aesthetic compattibility. In assembling such a display, a curator may lean art works against the walls of the exhibit area according to one of these general principles and then make changes because of aesthetic considerations, such as placing attractive works in vistas framed by doorways, adjusting the spacing between works, and giving special consideration to entrance and summary areas. He tries to exhibit the works so as to bring out their aesthetic quality and show respect for the artists.6
