Assam State in India records the highest rainfall in the world. The heavy rains in the State have their adverse effect on the buildings and monuments which include the ones of archaeological importance. Apart from heavy rains the archaeological monuments of this region also face of wrath of high velocity winds and earthquakes. When the heavy rainfall, growth of vegetation over the monuments is a perpetual problem which needs periodical attention, if not every day, to safeguard the monuments of this region.
