Note: Answer any TWO questions out of three.
The number of marks carried by a question/ part is indicated against it.
1. Shashank writes to Raman and says: "I hear that you are thinking of selling your television. If it is
in good order and price is right, I would like to buy it. Please advice by return post." Raman wrote
back by saying: "The television is in good working order and is cheap at Rs.8000." To this
Shashank replied saying: "I accept your offer and will buy the television for Rs.8000. Shortly after
receiving this letter from Shashank, Raman received an offer of Rs.10, 000 from his friend. As a
result Raman now wishes to sell the television to his friend.
a. Advice Raman.
b. Would your answer be different if Raman had said in his letter to Shashank: "The television is
in good working order and cheap at Rs.8000. Please advice by return post whether you wish to

2. David, a wealthy minor aged 17, misrepresents to Abraham that he is major and then borrows
Rs. 3000 from him. With the money David purchases a radio costing Rs. 1,500 and he spends the
balance in eating and drinking. Has Abraham any remedy against David? Discuss.
What are the rights of a person who supplies necessaries to a person who is not competent to
contract? (Marks
3. All contracts are agreements, but all agreements are not contract. Discuss.
What conditions are necessary for converting a proposal into a promise; a promise into an
agreement; and an agreement into a contract. Illustrate your answer. (Marks
