INSTRUCTIONS

Each question is printed both in Hindi and
in English.

Answers mu.st be written in the medium specified in the Admission Certificate issued to you, which must be stated clearly on the cover of the answer-book in the space provided for the purpose. No marks will be given for the answers written in a medium other than that specified in the Admission Certificate.

Candidates should attempt Question Nos. 1 and 5 which are compulsory, and any three of the remaining questions selecting at least one question from each Section.

The number of marks carried by each question is indicated at the end of the question.

Answers should be precise and to-the-point.·

Section-A

1. Answer any three of the following in not more than 200 words each 20x3=60
Define Monarchy. Is it ethically justified?
"You are not punished for stealing the sheep, but you are punished so that no sheep is stolen." Discuss as to which theory of punishment the statement belongs.
Compare Bodin's and Austin's views on sovereignty.
"Rights and duties are complementary." Explain.

2. I s Theocracy an outdated ideology? Discuss.
Is Secularism analogous to Atheism? Examine in the Indian context.

3. Comment on the relationship between equality and freedom. 30
Is capital punishment, 1n your view, ethically justified? 30

4. Examine the Land and Property Rights of women in India. How far do they contribute to empower women? 60

5. Answer any three of the following in not more than 200 words each 20x3=60

Critically examine the 'Causal' argument as a proof for the existence of God.

If evils and sufferings are the real experiences of individual selves,what role do they play in realizing self- transcendence?

(c)Explain the nature of religious experience. Can this experience be validated?

Is religious language symbolic? Discuss.

6. Analyze the 'Teleological' argument as a proof for the existence of God. 30

Examine why Man has a desire for Immortality. 30

7. Comment on the following statements

"There are no whole truths; all truths are half truths. It is trying to treat them as whole truths that plays the devil."

8. Can the of Religion be identified with the 'Absolute' of Philosophy? 30

Comment on the statement that "Religion only promised but never fulfilled the promise". 30
