Term-End Examination 01756 June, 2016 MCSL-045 -Set UNIX AND DBMS LAB
Time: 2 hours Maximum Marks: 50
Note: There are 2 sections in this paper.
All the questions are compulsory.
Each section is of one hour duration and carries 20 marks.
5 marks are for viva-voce of each section separately.
Attempt only that section(s) in which you are not successful as yet.
SECTION
UNIX 5x1=5
1. Write and execute the following commands in UNIX:
To summarize free space on disk device.
To show disk space used by files and directories.
To count the no. of words in a given file.
To find a desired file that matches with the given criteria.
To display the long listing of files in a given directory.
2. Write a shell script to combine any 3 given text files into a single file (append them in the order they appears in the arguments).

3. Create a COMPLAINTS table with the following fields (COMPLAINT_ID, TYPE_OF_COMPLAINT RELATED OR S/W RELATED), DATE_OF_COMPLAINT, SUPERVISOR_NAME, ALLOCATED_TO_ENGR, ROOM_NO, BLOCK_NO, DEPARTMENT)
Select a primary key. Select appropriate data types for all the fields. Insert at least 10 meaningful records.
4. For the above table given in Q3, answer the following queries using SQL
To display all the COMPLAINT_ID's generated on a particular day. 5x2=10
To print the department names for all the H/W RELATED COMPLAINTS on any particular day given.
To print the list of engineers handling all the S/W RELATED COMPLAINTS on 27-04-2016.
To print the SUPERVISOR's NAME for the COMPLAINT_ID "1122".
To print the COMPLAINTS handled by any particular engineer on a given day.
