ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND VETERINARY SCIENCE
PAPER-II

Answer must be written in the medium specified in the Admission Certificate issued to you, which must be stated clearly on the cover of the answer-book in the space provided for the purpose. No marks will be given for the answer written in a medium other than specified in the Admission Certificate.
Candidates should attempt Question Nos. 1 and 5 which are compulsory, and any three of the remaining question selecting at least one question from each Section.
All question carry marks.
SECTION-A
1. Write short notes on following in about 150 words each:- 15×4=60
MMA syndrome (Farrowing fever), occurence and clinical manifestations.
Pharmacological role of scavenging enzymes in super oxide formation.
Extrinsic and Intrinsic factors responsible for the spoilage of meat.
Role of various ingredients used in manufacturing ice-cream.
2. Describe the functional anatomy of female fowl in relation to its reproductive system.
Describe the diagnosis of oesophageal choke and hernia and suggest surgical management in cattle. 30×2=60
3. Give an account of the following:- 20×3=60
Reasons for failure of vaccination in animals.
Rules observed in conduction of post-mortem examination of vetero-legal case.
Role of extrinsic and intrinsic regulation of immunomodulation.
4. Discuss the etiology, pathogenesis, gross lesions, diagnosis and prevention of Gumboro disease in popultry.

6. Discuss epidemiology, etiology, post-mortern finding diagnosis and prevention of avian influenza.

7. Comment on the sythesis, breakdown, occurrence and pharmacologiocal actions of histamine on respiration and
blood pressure of rabbit and dog, and on allergic reaction. 20
Describe the provisions of Glanders and Farcy Act, 1899. 15
Discuss the principles of heat exchange and process of High Temperature-Short Time (HTST) method of milk
pasteurization including the functions of each component of HTST equipment. 25
8. Describe various modern gadgets and biochemical tests used in the diagnosis of animal diseases.
Discuss etiology, pathogenesis, clinical findings, treatment and control of black quarter disease in cattle.
