Note: Answer five questions including Question No. 1 which is compulsory. The number of marks
carried by each question is indicated at the end of the question.
1. Answer the following (each answer should be in approximately 100 words): (Marks 2×10=20)
a. Powers of Karta
b. Absolute property
c. Partial partition
d. Effect of Re-Union
e. Class I Heirs under the Hindu Succession Act,1956
f. Agnates and Cognates
g. Rule of Succession and right of child in womb
h. Revocation of Hiba
i. Marz-ul-maut
j. Limitation on legator to make will
2. What are the essential conditions of adoption under Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act
1956? Examine the validity of the following adoption under the Hindu Adoption and
Maintenance Act, 1956: (Marks
a. a Hindu married woman aged 27 years adopted a boy aged 6 years.
b. a Hindu Bachelor, adopted a boy B. Later when A got married, he at the instance of his
wife gave away B in adoption to D.
c. the mother of an illegitimate son gives him in adoption to her brother.
d. a Hindu adopts a boy aged 17 years
3. Distribute the properties and give reason:- (Marks 5×2=10)
a. A Hindu dies leaving a widow, 1 son and 2 daughters along with his unmarried sister
having no parents. His properties are worth of rupees 2 lakhs.
b. A dies leaving his widows W1 and W2, his father, two sons and one daughter. His
property is worth rupees10 crores. They are governed by Hindu Succession Act.
4. Answer with reason:- (Marks 5×2=10)
a. A a Hindu female died intestate leaving behind her self-acquired property. She is survived
by her husband, mother and sister. Distribute her property.
b. a Muslim male governed by Shia law died surviving his wife, mother and one
daughter. Determine their respective shares of the heirs.
5. Who is coparcener? Explain the rights and liabilities in a Mitakshara joint family.

6. Who are entitled to claim maintenance under Muslim law? Under which law a divorced
Muslim woman is entitled to claim maintenance? Explain. (Marks 10)
7. Define Hiba? Who can give gift and what are the essential of gift? State the situations in which
delivery of possession of immovable property is not required in making gift. (Marks 10)
