Note: Answer any TWO questions out of three. All questions carry equal marks.
1. "The three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep during the acceptance speech at the Golden Globes 2017 slammed U.S. President Donald Trump and criticized his behavior and policies, while asking Hollywood to stand strong against any attacks and to support a free press." This is an instance which proves the importance of freedom of speech and expression in a democracy.
In this background discuss the importance and necessity of freedom of speech and expression and also write a descriptive note on the types of Media. (Marks 10)
2. Discuss the following:- (Marks 5×2=10)
a. Write an explanatory note on theories of Mass Media. Whether theories of mass media really work in practical field? If no then which Model is workable in this field.
b. "There is no single regulatory body in India for the regulation of advertisements." In light of this statement analyse the regulation of advertisements in Indian scenario.
3. Write an explanatory note on the historical background of freedom of Press in Indian scenario. (Marks 10)
