1. Answer the following (each answer should be in approximately 100 words): (Marks 2×10=20)
a. Differentiate between "contract of insurance" and "contract of guarantee".
b. What do you mean by "Endowment life insurance policy"?
c. What is "contingent contract"? And how contract of insurance is a contingent
contract?
d. What do you mean by "forfeiture of life insurance policy"?
e. What do you mean by the term "deviation" in relation to a marine insurance policy?
f. What do you mean by the term "warranty of good safety"?
g. What do you mean by the term "loss by fire"? Does it include "loss of profit"?
h. What is Reinsurance?
i. What do you mean by "doctrine of subrogation"?
j. What do you mean by "doctrine of contribution"?
2. "Contract of insurance is a contract of indemnity but all insurance contracts are not perfectly
the contract of indemnity". Examine. (Marks 10)
3. "In property insurance, insurable interest is any financial interest based upon some legal right
in the preservation of property. In life insurance an insurable interest is any reasonable
expectation of financial loss arising from the death of a person whose life is assured. "
Critically examine these statements. (Marks 10)
4. "A contract of insurance is a contract of uberimafidei." Explain this statement with the help
of relevant case laws. (Marks 10)
5. Discuss in brief the objects and achievement of the Insurance Regulatory and Development
Authority established under the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999.
