developed to overcome the problems related to information explosion.
2. What is the need for an information centre Discuss in detail the various activities for organising
and information centre.
3. Distinguish between Data Centres and Data Banks. Explain the structure, functions and services
of data centres with suitable examples.
4. Enumerate the different organisations serving as non-documentary sources of information.
Describe any three such organisations with suitable examples.
5. What is meant by 'Storage Media' Mention the various forms under which storage media can be
grouped. Discuss any one such group with suitable example.
6. Describe the objectives, functions and services of environmental information system (ENVIS).
7. Describe in detail the origin, development and functions of the Committee on Data for Science
and Technology (CODATA).
8. What do you understand by house journals Describe the different categories of house journals
and their importance as information sources.
9. Enumerate various categories of information professionals. Discuss activities of any two of them.
10. Define the term 'Information Intermediary'. Discuss therole of different types of information
intermediaries.
