'The ancient Indian education system was teacher -centric, stressed on role learning and was selective in providing access'. Critically analyse the present-day education system in the light of this statement and write your inferences.
OR
'Macaulay overhauled the system of education to suit the British needs and interests'. In the light of this statement discuss the changes that were brought about in the objectives and the content of education after independence.
2. Answer the following question in about 600 words each:
Highlight at least three recommendations made by the Kothari Commission for structural reforms in higher education. Critically discuss the status of implementation of these reforms.
OR
Discuss at least one key recommendations of National Policy on Education (1986) with regard to:
determination of standards;
teacher training; and
quality in higher education. Critically evaluate the implementation status of each.
