SECTION
1. Discuss how the scientific study of human beings began and how this led to the development of social anthropology as a discipline. Describe the scope of the discipline. 10+10
2. "Culture is that complex whole which includes knowledge, beliefs, ...... habits acquired by man as a member of society." Examine the above statement in the light of evolutionary theory and as culture and society are defined therein.
3. Give an account of the thesis of nee-functionalism. Discuss the merits and de-merits of this approach. 10+10
4. Sketch the history of feminist movement and the influence of feminist theory in Anthropology.
5. Write short notes on any two of the following: 10+10
classical Evolutionism
Globalisation
Self and Identity
Social Anthropology and management studies.

6. How is North Indian Kinship different from South Indian Kinship? Discuss the basic principles. 10+10
7. Discuss any two approaches to the study of Kinship. 10+10
8. Discuss the concept of redistribution taking the example of Kula exchange of the Trobrianders. What is the role of Kula in their society? 10+10
9. Write short notes on any two of the following: 10+10
