Each question is printed both in Hindi and
in English.

Answers must be written in the medium specified in the Ad1nission Certificate issued to you which must be staled clearly on the cover of the answer-book in the space provided for the purpose. No marks will be given for the answers written in a medium other than that specified in the Admission Certificate.

Candidates should attempt Questiqn Nos. 1 and 5 which are compulsory, and any three of the remaining questions selecting at. least one question from each Section.

The number of marks carried by each question is indicated at the end of the question.

Section

1. Write short notes on any three of the following in about 200 words each 20x3-60

Interactionism in the philosophical context.
"The rational is real and the real is rational." -Comment.
"To be is to be perceived." Discuss.
"Existence precedes essence." Comment.

2. Compare the views of Leibniz and Hume on the concept of substance. 30

3. What are Quine's objections with regard to the verification theory of meaning 30
Compare the views of Spinoza and Sartre on Freedom. 30

4. Comment on each of the following in about 200 words each 20x3=60

Plato's analogy of the cave and its significance in his theory of knowledge.
Kant's objections against the ontological argument for the existence of God.
Descartes' mind-body dualism and Strawson's response to it.

Adhyasa
Hetvabhasa according to Nyaya
Conception of Kaivalya according to yoga

6. Compare Aristotle's view regarding causation with that of the Samkhya school's view of causation.

7. Compare the viewpoints of Nyaya, Vaiseaika, MimamSa and Buddhism on the issue of know ledge of abhava. 60

8. Compare Patanjali Yoga with the Integral Yoga expounded by Aurobindo, bringing out clearly points of similarity and dissimilarity. 60
