IPR-Copyright (Hons.-I)
Max. Marks: 20 Max. Time: 1:30 Hrs.
Note: Answer any TWO questions out of three. All questions carry equal marks.
1. Copyright draws its origin from Greek Stotic ideology followed by printing privileges and "Droit auteur' in France. However, only in Britain got statutory recognition. Discuss how English system of privileges was replaced by statute and also explain common law concept in copyright law. (Marks 06)
Comment on evolution of digital agenda by the Internet Treaties in context of copyright protection. (Marks 04)
2. "XYZ" a Company has compiled residential telephone numbers (named- Blue Directory) for the State of Blue. Mr. Lobo compiled residential telephone numbers for same (named- Purple Directory) and had been commercializing for some time. When "XYZ" has come to know that Mr. Lobo also compiled residential telephone numbers for the State of Blue named Purple Directory and commercializing same. "XYZ" has filed copyright infringement suit against Mr. Lobo. Analyze the given case to determine originality of the infringed work along with test laid down in case laws. (Marks 06)
Explain with reasons whether following works are copyrightable or not. Substantiate with cases if any;
For the first time in India Summer Fashion show 2016 based on the theme- "Go Vegan". The designers costumes and make up based on the theme. Analyze the copyrightablity of the facial make up on the models.

If applicant succeeds in registering the work, can they claim copyright on single alphabets or not? Whether the work of applicant is original or not?
