UNIT I
1. Distinguish between environmental hazards, environmental disasters and environmental stress.
Explain environmental stress, in detail.
Explain in detail the requirements of disaster preparedness in disaster management cycle.
2. What do you understand by the term 'Disaster Management'? Describe in detail the guidelines
of Government of India for disaster management.
Discuss in detail about how human perception changes with environment degradation.
UNIT II
3. Distinguish between endogenous and exogenous hazards with examples and explain its principle
of formation.
Write a note on the formation of cyclones? Discuss some of the measures to mitigate cyclones.
Discuss the flood-prone regions in India.
4. What is the difference between natural disasters and Man-made disasters? Explain them briefly
with examples.
Draw a flow chart of planetary and extra planetary hazards and explain.
UNIT III
5. Critically evaluate the role played by NGO'S in disaster management plan at the time of disasters.

Explain Human adjustment, perception and mitigation of earthquake in India
6. Explain the different type of failures experienced during landslides with sketches. Mention the
remedial measures to overcome landslides.

major earthquake occurred in India.

7. How could you differentiate a hazard and a disaster. Under what category will you put Bhopal
Gas Tragedy in India? Explain it in detail.
What are the toxic chemicals and describe a few measures that can be taken to reduce the impact
of such events?
