INTERNATIONAL MARKETING

Instructions Question No. One is compulsory.
Attempt any two questions out of question No. 3 and 4.

1. Case Study
Cronography India Limited is a leading company with the sales turnover of
Rs. 2,500 cr. The company made a modest beginning in 1985 by setting up the
mfg. facility in the backyard of Mr. Roshan. The product wrist watch) was
designed by a team of experts on consultancy basis. Mr. Roshan an electronic
engineer later on modified the product. With the help of his friend Mr. Ramesh,
who had a long standing experience in watch industry.
Mr. Ramesh, had recently resigned from his company due to certain unethical
issues between him and top management. Roshan and Ramesh could go well with
each other. Both of them joined hands and started working with full enthusiasm.
The strategies decided by them perfectly matched the markets they targeted in
India. In two decades time, the company's sales increased manifold, finally to be
professionally managed national leading company in the industry, with a market
share of 62%.
With this progress Mr. Roshan struck upon the idea to internationalize the products
by exporting to Middle East countries. Mr. Ramesh, however was skeptical, he
opined that the time is not ripe enough and was not in favor of the idea. But
Roshan was in a hurry to catch up with global markets.
Without much delay the products were launched in Middle East countries, under
the direction and supervision of Mr. Roshan. The quarterly reports from all these
countries were called for. Mr. Roshan was shocked to see the sales figure, the
trend in 90% of the global markets where the product were launched indicated
continuous declining rate. Such a situation left Mr. Roshan with a question mark
why did this happen
