SECTION — A
Answer any FIVE questions. 6 30 Marks)
Each question carries 6 marks.
1. State and prove Liouville's theorem.
2. Express dispersion in the value of energy in terms of the partition function Z.
3. Find the probability of the system in state according to canonical ensemble.
4. Obtain the transnational partition for a diatomic molecule.
5. State and prove equipartition theorem.
6. Explain Bose-Einstein condensation.
7. Explain magnetic susceptibility of free electrons.
8. Write notes on thermionic emission.

All questions carry equal marks.
9. Obtain the partition function for ideal monoatomic gas.
