1. Explain the difficulties with classical theories of black body radiation.
2. Explain the concept of stationary states.
3. Explain the penetration of a potential barrier.
4. Discuss the square well potential with finite walls.
5. Explain the concept of row and column matrices.
6. Write a note on Matrix algebra.
7. Explain the Eigen functions of AM operators.
8. Write a note on Rigid rotator.

Answer ALL questions.
Each question carries 15 marks. 15 60 Marks)
9. Explain the postulates of quantum mechanics and obtain the Schrodinger
equation of a particle moving in a scalar potential
Or
Obtain the solution of Schrodinger time —dependent equation.
10. Discuss the reflection and transmission at the interface and explain the
radioactive emission of Alfa particle.

Obtain the energy eigen values and eigen functions of a Harmonic oscillator.
11. Discuss in detail the matrix representation of wave functions and linear
operators.

Define Dirac's bra and ket notation and, discuss the ladder operators and its
significance.
12. What is angular momentum? Explain the commutation rules between them.
