Explain the concepts of and 'adult education', with reference to 'education of adults' and 'education for adults'.

Discuss the regional scenario on literacy with an emphasis on literacy rates and narrowing of gender gap in them.
2. Answer the following question in about 600 words:
Discuss the contemporary literacy practices in India, with a focus on the issues of gender and language.

Discuss the structural functionalist approach in the context of its application to the study of adult education.
3. Answer any four of the following questions in about 150 words each:
Explain how in modern societies adult education is the dominant ideological state apparatus.
Describe the communication systems that facilitate transfer of information from one source to another.
