Note: All the questions are compulsory.

1. Write True or False:

(a) All leathers are sold by weight. Grain is visible in sheep suede leather. Purpose of leather grading is financial and quantity. wastage is found in Grade leather. Four-fold test is done to check the strength of the leather.

2. Write different types of tools used in the Cutting Department and their functions.

3. Draw a diagram showing line of tightness and line of stretchness on a hide.

4. Explain different properties of leather. Also explain five different leathers on the basis of origin, which are commonly used for leather products making.

5. What is leather sorting? Write down ten common defects found in leather.

6. How much leather quantity should be ordered to fulfill the need of 10000 sq.ft. leather, if the supplier is giving 12% area discrepancy?

7. Why is sorting necessary in goat leather? What things will you check during sorting of goat leather? Also explain better storage.

8. Differentiate between the following: Synthetic cutting process and Leather cutting process Cow grain and Buff grain Full grain leather and Corrected grain leather Split leather and Suede leather Leather grading and Leather sorting
