Applications are invited from Indian nationals to work as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a research project funded by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
Title of the Research Project: Damage Assisted Failure Analysis of Engineering Structures using Cohesive Zone Approach and XFEM
Brief description of the Project: The main objectives are: -
- To develop an extended finite element method (XFEM) code for fracture problems.
- To develop a cohesive zone approach with XFEM for the simulation of real life engineering problems.
- Extension of the develop approach to compute the effect of multiple minor discontinuities on the real life engineering components.
Duration: 3 years or till the completion of the project, whichever is earlier.
Position: 1
Qualifications:
1). B.Tech in Mechanical and M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering/Computational Mechanics/Applied Mechanics. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA out of 10 in their Master's.
Or
2). Exceptional candidates having B.Tech/B.E degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 65% marks or 7 CGPA out of 10 and valid GATE score can apply for the position.
Note: Candidate having basic knowledge of MATLAB/Fortran/Abaqus will be given preference.
Emoluments: As per DST India rules. I and II year- Rs 25000/- pm + 10% HRA (or a hostel accommodation)
III year- Rs 28000/- pm +10% HRA (or a hostel accommodation)
General Terms and Conditions:
- 1. The position is temporary which will be renewed every year subject to satisfactory performance. Candidate selected for this position can apply for the regular PhD program provided he/she qualifies the eligibility criterion for PhD program at IIT Ropar.
- 2. Original documents of mark sheet/degrees/certificates/age proof and other testimonials must be presented at the time of interview.
- 3. No TA/DA will be given for attending the interview.
