Advertisement for Research Associate (RA) and Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Applications are invited for a temporary position of Research Associate (RA-I) and Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under DST sponsored Indo-Poland joint research project at NABI.

Project Title: Pharmacological mimicking of cold via cold thermoreceptors (TRPA1 and TRPM8) and energy regulation: novel implications in obesity and type-2 diabetes (Project No: DST/INT/PLO/P-22/2016/G)

Principle Investigator: Dr. Mahendra Bishnoi & Dr. Kanthi Kiran Kondepudi

Sponsoring agency: Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India

Position available: Research Associate-I (One); Junior Research Fellow (One)

Duration: The appointment will be till 25th August, 2019 or till the termination of the project.

Objective:

1. To study the expression and function of TRP cold thermoreceptors (TRPA1 and TRPM8) in metabolically active tissues

2. In-vitro (cell culture models) and in-vivo (diet-induced obesity model in mice) studies to understand the role of TRP thermoreceptors in energy homeostasis

3. To study dietary intervention of cold thermoreceptors against diet-induced obesity and associated complications (type-2 diabetes).

1. Research Associate (RA-I)

Essential qualifications: PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/ M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Index (SCI) journal.

(Eligibility criteria as DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014)

Desirable qualifications:

1. Prior research experience supported by peer reviewed publications

2. Hands on experience in molecular biology, cell culture techniques, pre-clinical animal studies

Emoluments: The RA-I will be hired as per the emoluments guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014) as well as grant sanction under the project (Rs. 36,000 per month +10% HRA).

Age Limit: The age limit of applicants for RA will be 35 years. (relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC/women as per government of India instructions).

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Essential qualifications for JRF: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science with NET Qualification OR Graduate Degree in Professional Course with NET qualification OR Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course. (Eligibility criteria as DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014)

Desirable qualifications:

1. CSIR/UGC/DBT JRF fellowship

2. Prior research or training experience in Analytical Bio-chemistry, Microbiology and handling animal models.

Emoluments: Junior Research Fellow will be hired as per the emoluments guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014) as well as grant sanction under the project (Rs. 25,000 per month +10% HRA).

Age Limit: The age limit of applicants for JRFs will be 28 years (relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC/women as per government of India instructions).

The duly filled application form must be submitted at the time of registration at NABI from 1300 hrs to 1400 hrs on 02nd February, 2018 (Friday). The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed.
