Admission Notice for PhD Programme

in Information Technology & Electronics & Communication Engineering

January to July, 2018 Session

Online applications are invited from motivated and qualified students for admission to the PhD programme at IIIT Allahabad starting from January/July. Students applying for Ph.D. are requested to see the faculty profile at https://www.iiita.ac.in/academics/department/ to check the research interests of the faculties.

The applicants are encouraged to contact the faculties with whom the applicant is interested to do research and discuss the research proposal. The applicant needs to fill the names his/her probable Ph.D Supervisors (more than one option allowed).

Research Scholars to take up the additional assignment of Tutor-cum-Research Assistant Positions at IIIT Allahabad, will be compensated additionally with an additional fellowship upto Rs.10,000/- per month over and above their scholarship.

Ph.D in information Technology	Cognitive Computing, Logics and Verification, Algorithms and Optimization, Data Mining and Information Retrieval, Cryptography and Cyber Security, Wireless Networks and Mobile Computing, Image Processing and Graphics & Visual Computing, Document Image analysis, Machine Learning (ML),NPL and Big Date Analytics, Complex and Social Network Analysis, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Embedded Systems, Wireless Sensor Networks & Internet of Things. (students may be allowed to do research in other areas of information technology provided a faculty from the department/institute is willing to supervise the student in the specific area)	A masters degree in Engineering /Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 65% marks / 7.0 CGPI (60% marks/6.5 CGPI for SC/ST). OR A Bachelors degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 75% marks/ 8.0 CGPI (70% marks/7.5 CGPI for SC/ST) OR A Master's degree in Science/Computer Application with (a) a minimum of 75% / 8.0 CGPI in the master's degree (b) first division in bachelor's degree (c) INSPIRE JRF/ NET JRF/NET/SET MHRD fellowship ( GO F .No. 17-2/2014-TS.I. ) will only be provided to the scholars on basis of GATE scores above the prescribed cut-off level.
PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering	Communication and Signal Processing: Signal Processing, MIMO Systems, Wireless Sensor Networks; Network coding, Cooperative and Cognitive Relaying Communication Microelectronics and VLSI: VLSI Systems and Design, MOS Device and MEMS fabrication, Device Simulation / Noise and RF modeling, Computational Nanoelectronics, First Principles Technique, Electro-Thermal Management. Microwave and Photonics: Optical Networks and Sensors, Polarimetric Applications of Microwave data, Microwave Imaging, Ground Penetrating Radar, THz Imaging, Metamaterial Absorber and Filters. (students may be allowed to do research in other areas of information technology provided a faculty from the department / institute is willing to supervise the student in the specific area)

2) In addition to the general eligibility criteria, candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria specified by different departments in the PhD information brochure.

3) Mode of the application is online. The Application fee is Rs.500/-for General/OBC and Rs.250/-for SC/ST candidates.

4) Institute Fellowship :( subject to approval by the Senate).

(i) If a selected PhD Scholar in IT/ECE who does not have a GATE Score above a prescribed cut off level then an institute fellowship maybe provided to such students on availability

(ii) Such scholars may appear for GATE and on successful clearance of these national exams above the prescribed cut off level; they will be eligible for the MHRD Fellowship as per the GO F .No. 17-2/2014-TS.I.

(iii) Such PhD Scholars can also take up additional assignment of Tutor-cum-Research Assistant Positions at IIIT Allahabad and will be compensated additionally with an additional fellowship upto Rs.10, 000/- per month over and above their scholarship.

(iv) If a selected PhD Scholar in IT/ECE who does not have a GATE Score above a prescribed cut off level but have cleared UGC-NET (JRF)/CSIR-NET (JRF) ,they may avail their own scholarship as provided by UGC/CSIR
