The University:

Indian Institute of Teacher education (IITE), a university established under Gujarat Government Act 8/2010, is a unique Teachers University, only of its kind in India. It is a brainchild of the then CM of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi.

As 21st century education would not just consist of a degree but an all-inclusive setup, hence the idea of innovative, residential, integrated degrees was brought in to existence. To lend a material shape to the best educational philosophies from across the world, a team of experts led by legendary Indian academician and philosopher Shri Kireet Joshi and other scholars of national and international stature came together to design the curriculum of IITE The institute is set-up with the objective to produce world class teachers which can be exported to the schools across the world. At a time when the world is facing shortage of skilled teachers, India should lead from the front is the goal of IITE.

The skill & training

IITE has created first of its kind Skill and Training Centre to equip the students to excel in communication skills, information technology, administration and management, innovation and yoga, horse-riding, and fine and performing arts like Dance/Drama/Painting etc. This Skill and Training Centre helps students to understand the changing scenario of global education with the help of experts of the field resulting into increasing the probability of employability.

The Indian Institute of Teacher Education has to develop specialised departments, under the auspices of the centre of Education, which will conceive, design, conduct and promote foundational courses, core courses and elective courses for full time candidates of the University, covering a wide range of subjects of humanities, sciences, fine arts, commerce as also those that will aid teaching in schools.

Indian Institute of Teacher Education is dedicated to preparing teachers of the highest calibre for the global education culture. Today, our graduates are reckoned as instructional leaders. University offers M.Sc./M.A., M.Ed. and M.Sc. M.Ed./M.A. M.Ed. programme. The courses are recognised by NCTE and UGC.

Information about Institute and General Instructions for the candidates

1.0 Introduction:

Indian Institute of Teacher Education is the university established by Govt. of Gujarat by passing an act in Gujarat Legislature Assembly in the year 2010. The University is established with an objective of training prospective teachers professionally and to help them becoming effective and efficient teachers to serve the humanity in general and society in particular.

The following are objectives and vision and mission of the University:

OBJECTIVES

To evolve and implement a new program of teachers' education that would provide education and training to prospective teachers that aiming at new integral development.

To train prospective teachers based on globally benchmarked curriculum with ideas gleaned from the fusion of the intellectual traditions of India and the West.

To equip teachers with the competencies requisite for dealing with the 21st century issues of the choices and challenges of students.

To impart teacher training which enables the prospective teachers to see the obtaining world in the new light of universal human values.

To promote the indigenous tradition of teacher-student relationship (Guru-Shishya Parampara) in various fields of humanities, arts, crafts, sciences, technologies and yoga (psychological and physical education).

To publish and disseminate results of advanced research relating to teachers' education for purposes of advancement of capacities to teach and learn among professional teachers as also among parents, social educators and social workers.

To promote national and international cooperation in teachers' education as also in the development of teaching-learning material through online programs, documentaries, musical and dramatic programs and films.

To undertake, conduct and promote any program that will enhance the highest aims of pedagogy and synthesis of knowledge-systems and internationalism.

To foster in the University highest purposes of education of the body, life and mind as also of the human spirit in its integrity.

To introduce and nurture innovations in the education system so as to reflect India's spiritual knowledge, robust intellectuality and inexhaustible creativity.

To create teachers of tomorrow with the transformative knowledge of Indian tradition and usher in a new era of teacher education, focusing upon the integral development of teachers.

OUR MISSION

To provide integrated courses in teacher education, marked and defined by value-education, global outlook, and interdisciplinary.

The topics other than core subjects; to be covered in the M.Ed. syllabus will be as follow:

In the first semester, student has to select and study one elective subject, other than his respective subject.

In the second semester, the students have to undergo the specialised course of e- content.

In the third semester, the students have to study the following papers as their syllabus:

Two each play of Kalidas and William Shakespeare: review-script writing-practical performing Kalidas on stage.

Poetry writing and poetry review, recitation, critical analysis, kavi Sammelan

Five world best movie for cinematography on teacher-review and appreciation.

In the fourth semester, the students have to work as teaching assistant for three months in any school or college as a part of their study.

During the summer vacation, a special summer camp will be organised in the country or outside the county to provide exposure and interaction with international University.

2.0 PG Programmes in Teacher Education:

IITE offers following PG programmes in teacher education at its campus:

IITE offers innovative integrated teacher education programmes. It is three-year integrated M.Sc.M.Ed. and M.A.M.Ed. Programmes, approved and recognised by NCTE.

IITE offers M.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Botany) and M.A. (English) Programmes.

IITE offers two year M.Ed. Programme, approved and recognised by NCTE.

3.0 Intake of the Courses:

50 Seats

Reservation policy will be as per the norms of the Gujarat Government.

4.0 Eligibility:

M.Ed.:

Graduate in any of the subjects and B.Ed. from any UGC recognized University with at least 50 % marks. (SC/ST candidates, minimum 45 % marks.) Admission will be strictly on Merit (Entrance examination may be conducted).

5.0 Tuition Fees:

Rs. 45000/- per semester,

Rs. 500 for Library Deposit.

6.0 Admission will be strictly on Merit basis. The University may conduct entrance test in event of number of applicants are more.

4. The application form along with the documents must be delivered on or before 12th August, 2017. at the University office. No form will be entertained in case it is received after this date.

6. If the candidate wishes to avail the benefit of reservation for the specified category, the document required must be attached along with the application form, otherwise the admission will be treated in general category. For SEBC category, Non-creamy Layer Certificate from the competent authority must be latest and valid.

As per the latest norms of issuing authority. If any of the certificates is not issued as per the norms, University may consider the candidate in general category
