Repository of Tomato Genomic Resources Department of Plant Sciences Research Positions in Tomato Functional Genomics
At the Repository of Tomato Genomics Resources (http://rtgr.webs.com/), we are working on Tomato Functional Genomics, using TILLING, Insertional Mutagenesis, Exome Capture, Genome Editing, Proteomics and Metabolomics approaches to study fruit ripening in tomato. The current aims of the group include using reverse and forward genetics strategies to isolate tomato mutants delayed in ripening, having high lycopene and folate content in tomato fruits and analysis of light and hormonal signal transduction pathways. For recent publications of the group see (Food Chemistry 2017 217:610, Frontiers in Plant Sciences 2016 7:969; PLoS ONE 2016 11(4); Food Chemistry 2015 179: 76-84; Plant Methods 2015 11:5; Plant Cell Environment 2014

Currently we have following positions available in the DBT projects awarded to Prof RP Sharma, funded by Department of Biotechnology. The qualifications for the positions are as follows:
Project on Genome wide screen for tomato mutants by TILLING- Phase-II
1 Technical Assistant- (1 position) The candidates should have M.Sc. in Plant Breeding/Genetics (Preferably CSIR/UGC-NET-LS qualified) with minimum two year experience of working on plant breeding with experience of crossing and backcrossing of plants, preferably in tomato, handling PCR based screening of plants and cataloguing of mutant lines. The selected candidate would be paid Rs. 20,000/-pm- consolidated.
Project on Biofortification of tomato by targeted manipulation of the biosynthetic pathways
2. Research Assistant-(1 position): Applicants should have M.Sc. Plant Sciences/Plant Biotechnology or related area (Preferably CSIR/UGC-NET-LS qualified) with minimum two year experience of working in plant molecular biology lab with experience of handling equipments and carrying out basic experiments in plant molecular biology and/or tissue culture. The selected candidate would be paid Rs. 15,000/-pm- consolidated.
Candidates interested in above project positions should send a one page statement clearly explaining how their skills are relevant to the position. Applications for these positions without enclosed experience certificate will be rejected. The candidates should also enclose detailed CV and the name/email id/telephone numbers of three referees.
The candidates applying for above positions should clearly write the project title and the name of the position for which they are applying along with position number. The candidates can send their application by email at rameshwar.sharma@uohyd.ac.in on or before April 10th, 2017.
All the positions are purely temporary in nature. Shortlisted candidates would be called for interview. No TA/DA would be provided for attending the interview.
We also accept applications from the candidates who wish to pursue post-doctoral research in the area of tomato functional genomics/metabolomics/proteomics with their own fellowships from DBT/DST/CSIR/UGC. The candidates who wish to be considered for independent fellowship can send CV with a research proposal at above email id. The students having DBT/DST/CSIR/UGC JRF can also contact for possible PhD openings at Repository of Tomato Genomics Resources in above areas.
