Postdoctoral/Doctoral Fellowships for Overseas Candidates

Alagappa University invites applications for Postdoctoral Fellowships (PDF)/Doctoral Fellowships in various disciplines in the Faculty of Arts. The applicants should have acquired Ph.D./Master degree from reputed institutions abroad with good academic/research credentials.

Alagappa University, a State University re-accredited with A grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is located at Karaikudi in Southern part of India. The University established in the year 1985 has emerged as a centre of excellence in world class teaching, high ended research in the frontier areas of science, arts, education and management. The 430 acre green and lush campus is about 100 Kms away from Madurai and Tiruchirappalli Airports.

Faculty of Management: Fellowships are open within the Faculty of Management in the areas of HRM, Business Laws, Banking and Finance, International Business, E-commerce, Monetary Banking, Rural Banking, Corporate Laws, Financial Services, Indirect Taxes, Corporate Management, Logistic Management, Organisational Behaviour/Financial Management, Foreign-Exchange Management, International Marketing, Entrepreneurial Development, Technology Management and Retail Management. Duration of Fellowship:

• The PDF is purely a temporary assignment, and is tenable initially for a period of 1 year. However, the fellowship can be extended by one more year depending on the progress of research. There is no provision to extend the tenure beyond two years and no manpower support will be provided to the Fellow. He/She is expected to undertake the research objectives by himself/herself during the entire duration of the fellowship.
  
  
• The Doctoral Fellowship (Ph.D.) is also purely a temporary assignment, and is tenable for a period of 3 years. The Progress of the Scholar will be assessed at the end of every year and extension will be granted based on the research progress of the candidate. Further extension may be permitted based on the recommendation of the Doctoral Committee without any financial commitment on the part of the University. However, the candidate has to submit his/her Ph.D. thesis within the maximum of 5 years from the date of registration.
  
  
• Accommodation: Accommodation to PDFs/PhDs will be provided in the University Faculty Guest House/Hostel depending on the availability.
  
  
• Leave Details: PDFs/PhD Fellows are entitled to leave as per University rules. Presentation of papers in scientific conferences/seminars/workshops held in India or abroad will be treated as on duty. Maternity leave as per the Govt. of India instructions issued from time to time would be available to female candidates in all categories.
  
  
• Termination of the fellowship: If any fellow wishes to terminate the fellowship, he/she shall inform the University through the mentor/HOD. Alagappa University reserves the right to terminate the Fellowship at any stage if it is convinced that appropriate progress of research work is not made or the fellowship grant has not been utilized properly.
  
  
• The applicant must identify a suitable Mentor under whom the proposed research would be carried out.
  
  
• The selection will be based on the recommendations of an Expert Committee that will be constituted by the Alagappa University. The applicants may be called for interview through video conferencing.
