Research Positions in Tomato Functional Genomics

At the Repository of Tomato Genomics Resources, we are working on Tomato Functional Genomics, using TILLING, Insertional Mutagenesis, Exome Capture, Genome Editing, proteomics and metabolomics approaches to study fruit ripening in tomato. The current aims of the group include using reverse and forward genetics strategies to isolate tomato mutants delayed in ripening, having high lycopene and folate content in tomato fruits and analysis of light and hormonal signal transduction pathways. For recent publications of the group see (Food Chemistry 2017 217:610, Frontiers in Plant Sciences 2016 7:969; PLoS ONE 2016 11(4); Food Chemistry 2015 179: 76-84; Plant Methods 2015 11:5; Plant Cell Environment 2014 37: 1688-1702, Plant Physiology 2014 164: 2030-2044; Plant Physiology 2013 161: 20852101).

Currently, we have following positions available in the projects Influence of phototropin genes on tomato fruit quality and shelf life and Interaction between proteome and metabolomic networks during tomato fruit ripening awarded to Dr. Y. Sreelakshmi, funded by Department of Biotechnology. The qualifications for the positions are as follows:

1. Research Assistant I (1 position): Applicants should have minimum one year experience in basic molecular biology techniques. M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences with qualification in CSIR/UGC-NET-LS is required. Selected candidates would be paid a consolidated pay of Rs. 13000/-pm. Applications for this position without enclosed experience certificate will be rejected.

2. Research Assistant II (1 position): Applicants should have M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences with UGC/CSIR-NET-LS plus 1-2 years research experience in proteomics analyses-2Dgel/LC-MS or M.Tech (Pharmacy, Chemistry, etc.) with 1-2 years experience in HPLC, mass spectrometry. Selected candidates would be paid a consolidated pay of Rs. 15000/-pm. Applications for this position without enclosed experience certificate will be rejected.

We also encourage CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/BINC JRF qualified candidates who wish to pursue PhD in research areas of tomato proteomics, metabolomics and functional genomics. The interested candidates can send CV to the email address given below, however the admission to PhD program would be as per University of Hyderabad admission guidelines.

We also accept applications from the candidates who wish to pursue post-doctoral research with their own fellowships from DBT/DST/CSIR/UGC in the area of tomato functional genomics/metabolomics/proteomics. The candidates who wish to be considered for independent fellowship can send CV with a research proposal at the email id given below.

Candidates interested in above project positions should send a one page statement clearly explaining how their skills are relevant to the position. The candidates should also enclose detailed CV and the name/email id for three referees. The candidates can send their application by email at y.sreelakshmi@uohyd.ac.in on or before April 4th, 2017.
