Sir,

This is to invite nominations for the post of Judicial Member in the Armed Forces Tribunal, which has been set up under the Armed Forces Tribunal Act (55 of 2007). There are seven vacancies of Judicial Members in the Armed Forces Tribunal.

2. Schedule 18(column-3) to Rule 3 of "The Tribunal, Appellate Tribunal and other Authorities (Qualifications, Experience and other Conditions of Service of Members) Rules, 2017" notified vide GSR 514(E) on 01.06.2017 provides that

"A person shall not be qualified for appointment as Judicial Member, unless he is, or has been, a Judge of a High Court."

1. In terms of the said schedule 18 (column.S&6) tt'5the Rule 9, term of office of the Member is for three years and the maximum age for holding office by the Member is sixty-five years. '"'

5, The selected persons are liable to be posted to anywhere in {~dia having a Bench of the Armed Forces Tribunal and the appointment shall carry an All India transfer liability.

6, It is requested that the applications of servlnq/retired Hon'ble Judges of the High Court who have special knowledge and experience of Service laws and are willing to be considered Jor the post of Judicial Member in the Armed Forces Tribunal, may be forwarded alongwith their bio-data in the prescribed format, so as to reach this Department by rs'" December, 2017.

7. The following information and material are also required to be enclosed alongwith the application/bio-data for the post of Judicial Member in the Armed Forces Tribunal:

(a)

Five Judgement on service matters, and

(b)

Five Judgement on criminal matters preferably in relation to the Armed Forces.
