Notification for Admission in Ph. D (Full-time-Project Research Fellowship) Programme 2017-18

Walk in written test followed by interview for selection of scholars in PhD (Full-time-Project Research Fellowship) in following disciplines and categories, will be held on 28.07.2017 at NIT-Arunachal Pradesh, Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh 791112.

ELIGIBILITY

1. M. Tech./ M.E. in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA in 10 point scale or 60 percent marks in aggregate in the M.E./ M. Tech. level from a recognized technical institute or university.

2. B. Tech/ B.E. in relevant discipline with at least 7.0 CGPA or 65 percent marks in aggregate from a recognized technical institute or university. (Valid GATE score is mandatory).

3. M. Sc. in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA in 10 point scale or 60 percent marks in aggregate from a recognized institute or university.

4. The minimum CGPA/marks to be relaxed by 0.5 CGPA or 5 percent in case of candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the commission from time to time.

5. Written (Entrance) test is mandatory for candidate not having UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including

JRF)/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder or M. Phil Degree as per MHRD norm.

6. For admission to Engineering and Science disciplines (except Life Science), a candidate should have passed Mathematics in +2 Science.

NOTES:

For selection of Research scholars in engineering disciplines, Students with B. Tech. degree will be given preference over students with M.Sc. degree, even if the latter has an M. Tech. Degree.

Students with any other relevant background may be eligible, but only with approval of Chairman of Senate on the recommendation of the Departmental Research Committee (DRC).

Differential academic qualifications across the departments have been made considering the departmental requirement, availability of candidates in the respective departments and uniform growth of all departments in the Institute.

Students of one discipline may seek admission in a related department which will be considered on the basis of merit of the case. Selection will be made on the basis of academic record, relevance of qualification and performance in tests and/or interviews.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR CATEGORY

Fellowship as per the project norms of all departmental project (externally funded) shall be available to all selected PhD research scholars, depending on qualification.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR WALK IN WRITTEN TEST FOLLOWED BY INTERVIEW

Applicants seeking admission under the scheme are required to appear written test followed by Interview on 28th July, 2017 (Friday) at NIT Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh -791112 at 11:00 am. No TA/DA will be provided. Candidates are required to bring filled up

application form (which is attached ) with their updated biodata and Xerox copies of all relevant certificates and mark sheets along with DD of Rs 500.00 (Rs. 300/- for SC/ST candidates) in favor of Director, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, payable at SBI Nirjuli Code-9535.

CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES AND MARK SHEETS FOR VERIFICATION.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

The completed application must accompany the photocopies of the following documents:

i) Self-attested copy of GATE/ NET score card (both sides) (> qualifying cut-off marks), if applicable

ii) Self-attested copy of marks sheet / Grade card of the standard X, XII and other university examinations. If the marks sheet of the final examination is not available, the marks-sheets of the previous semesters should be submitted.

iii) Self-attested copy of proof of date of birth

iv) Self-attested copy of community certificate in the case of SC/ST candidates from a competent authority (not below the rank of a Tahsildar), if applicable.

v) Self-attested copy of recent community certificate in case of OBC candidates from a competent authority (not below the rank of a Tahsildar) indicating the status regarding creamy layer, if applicable, issued on or after 01/01/2015.

vi) Self-attested copy of certificates from competent authority for persons with disability (PWD)

An application without the photocopies of the required documents is liable to be rejected.

The decision of the respective department will be final in matters related to the preparation of the short list and merit list. Queries, if any, should be directed to respective department.

FEES FOR REGISTRATION

One time Ph. D Registration fee for a maximum period of 3 years = Rs. 40,000/- (forty thousand only) (DD of Rs. 40,000 drawn in favour of Director, NIT, AP payable at SBI, Nirjuli - 9535). For subsequent extension, fee will be Rs. 15,000 per year (for maximum two years).
