About NIT Kurukshetra

National Institute of Technology, (Formerly Regional Engineering College, established in 1963) Kurukshetra is one among the foremost Institutes of National Importance imparting higher technical education in India. This Institute was conferred upon the status of Deemed University on June 26, 2002. Since then, it has been named as National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. The institute is a residential institute well known for its dedicated faculty, staff and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The institute offers B.Tech., M.Tech., M.C.A., M.B.A and Ph.D. programmes. The Institute enjoys an excellent placement service for its graduate and post graduate students.

About Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra- the land of the Mahabharata has traditionally been the epicenter of learning. The message of Bhagavata Gita is believed to have been delivered by Lord Krishna at this place. In addition to its spiritual significance, the city of Kurukshetra has steadily developed into a center of academic excellence.

How to Reach

Kurukshetra is well connected with road\rail. It is a railway junction on Delhi-Ambala section and is situated on National Highway No. 1 (G. T. Road). It is approximately 160 km from Delhi and 100 km from Chandigarh. NIT Kurukshetra is about 10 km from Pipli and 6 km from Kurukshetra railway station.

About CCN

Centre of Computing and Networking was established in the year 1997, as a project funded by MHRD. It is a Central facility for the Institute connecting all the buildings, Departments, Hostels and residential area through Local Area Network (LAN). The Centre aims to integrate networking and computing facility for service to the students, scholars, faculty and community with an effort to automate institute offices and sections. The CCN maintains Campus Wide Network with more than 5000 nodes with state-of-art-networking infrastructure.

Workshop Details

The purpose of workshop Cyber Security: Current Trends and Future Perspective (CSCTFP) is to develop the competency and expertise of a professional in security and networking skills thereby adding value to the workplace. It provides a platform for researchers\engineers\scientists\faculty to showcase and disseminate high-quality research in the domain of Cyber Security. It provides knowledge about the ongoing scenario in the area of Cyber security. The Participant is introduced to various computer and Cyber security threats such as identity theft, phishing attacks, emails hoaxes, loss of confidential information and social engineering. The workshop will provide the participants with an in-depth study of a number of current research topics, open problems, along with the potential research ideas and discussions on the evolution of Cyber Security.

The workshop intends to focus on advances in the following domains, but are not limited to:

Foundations of Cyber Security
Securing Internets and Intranets
Protecting Systems using Firewalls
Backup and Data Recovery
Securing E-Transactions
Email Security
Securing Social Networks
Information Security and Legal Compliance

Resource Persons

Distinguished and Learned persons from institutes of repute including IITs, NITs and experts from related industries will be the resource persons for the workshop.

The proposed workshop is designed and intended for engineers, scientists, faculty, graduate students and research scholars working in the area of Cyber Security.

How to Apply

Interested participants should submit the complete application form in a prescribed format along with the registration fee in the form of demand draft in favor of Director, NIT Kurukshetra payable at SBI, NIT Kurukshetra (6260).

Academic Faculty : 1500.00 INR

Students* : 1000.00 INR

Industry Participants : 2000.00 INR

*Student (UG/PG/PhD) participants need to submit scanned copy of a valid proof/ID along with the registration form.

Participants will be provided workshop kit, lunch and refreshment during the workshop. However, accommodation can be arranged in hostel/guest house on nominal payment basis subject to the availability. No TA/DA will be paid to the participants. Limited numbers of seats are available; therefore, participants will be selected on first-come-first-serve basis. The registration form complete in all respects, accompanied by demand draft of requisite amount should reach on or before February 23, 2017.
