PhD Admissions under Visvesvaraya PhD scheme

Even Semester, 2015-16

Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), MCIT, Govt. of India has granted scholarships under the scheme titled Visvesvaraya PhD scheme. Under this scheme presently admissions are open to PhD Degree program on Part Time basis. This is a special scheme with following features.

For part time candidates:

A one-time incentive of Rs. 2.5 lakhs at the time of successful completion of PhD degree.

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for admission to PhD Program for the even semester 2015-16, under the above scheme at NIT Arunachal Pradesh.

Eligibility criterion: Students for admission into Ph.D. Programs in Engineering Departments must satisfy one of the following criteria

i) M.E./M.Tech/M.S. in Electronics/Communications/Computer Science/Instrumentation/Biomedical/Mechanical/Microelectronics/Solid-state Technology/MEMS/Nano Science/Nano Technology/Material Science/Engineering Physics or equivalent. or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (60% of marks). For SC/ST candidates, a minimum CGPA of 6.0 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (55% of marks). Preference will be given to GATE/NET qualified candidates.

(ii) B.E./B.Tech. with a valid GATE score and with an excellent academic record and with a CGPA of at least 8.0 (on 10 point scale) or equivalent (75% of marks). For graduates from IITs/NITs, the minimum CGPA requirement is 7.0 (on 10 point scale). For SC/ST candidates, there is a relaxation of 0.5 CGPA or 5% of marks.

Under the Visvesvaraya PhD scheme it is essential to work on research problems having relevance to Industry. How to apply?

Applicants seeking admission under the scheme are required to appear a Walk-in Interview on 22nd January 2016 (Friday) at Institute of Radio Physics & Electronics, University of Calcutta, 92, APC Road, Kolkata - 70009 at 10:00 am. No TA/DA will be provided. Candidates are required to bring filled up application form (which is attached ) with their updated biodata and Xerox copies of all relevant certificates and mark sheets along with DD of Rs 500.00 (Rs. 300/- for SC/ST candidates) in favor of Director, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, payable at SBI Nirjuli Code-9535.

CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES AND MARK SHEETS FOR VERIFICATION.
