IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES:
The Union Public Service Commission will be conducting the Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination-2017 from 12th May to 14th May, 2017 at various Centers all over India. The e-Admit Cards are available on the Commissions website http://www.upsc.gov.in. Candidates are advised to download and check the e-admit card carefully and bring discrepancy, if any, to the notice of the Commission immediately. Rejection letters citing the ground(s) for rejection have been dispatched and also put on the Union Public Service Commission website. In case of any difficulty faced by the candidates in downloading e-Admit Card, they may contact the UPSC Facilitation Counter on Telephone Nos. 011-23385271, 011-23381125 and 011-23098543 on any working day between 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM. The candidates can also send Fax Message on Fax No. 011-23387310.

Important instructions to the candidates (which must be read carefully well in advance). In the past cases have been noticed where some candidates have faced difficulty in accessing the server at the last minute on account of server overload. To avoid the last minute rush, candidates are advised to download their e-Admit Card early.

- In case the photograph is not printed clear/visible on the e-Admit Card, candidates are advised to carry 2 (two) photographs (one identical photograph for each session) along with proof of identity such as Identity Card, Voter Identity Card, Passport or Driving License etc. and printout of e-Admit Card at the venue of the Examination.
RESTRICTIONS ON APPLYING FOR THE EXAMINATION:
MOBILE PHONES BANNED
Mobile phones or any other communication devices are not allowed and the candidates bringing Mobile phone or any other communication devices or any banned item with them will not be allowed entry into the premises of the Examination Venues. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban for future examination.
INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING AVAILING COMPENSATORY TIME AND/OR SCRIBES BY VISUALLY CHALLENGED CANDIDATES (MINIMUM 40% IMPAIRMENT) AND CANDIDATES WITH LOCOMOTOR DISABILITY AND CEREBRAL PALSY WHERE THE DOMINNANT (WRITING) EXTREMITY IS AFFECTED TO THE EXTENT OF SLOWING THE PERFORMANCE OF FUNCTION (MINIMUM 40% IMPAIRMENT)

The Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination-2017 will be held on 12.05.2017, 13.05.2017 and 14.05.2017. Examination on 12th & 13th May, 2017 will be held in two sessions and each session will be of three hours duration. On 14.05.2017 there is only one session in the morning i.e. 9.00 A.M. to 12.00 Noon.

However, visually challenged (VC) candidates and candidates with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy (LDCP) with impairment (to the extent of 40% or more) in dominant (writing) extremity are entitled to 20(Twenty) MINUTES PER HOUR i.e. total 60(Sixty) minutes compensatory time to answer each of these papers and also utilize the services of scribes for writing the papers.

Visually challenged (VC) candidates and candidates with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy (LDCP) with impairment (to the extent of 40% or more) in dominant (writing) extremity are required to submit an UNDERTAKING in the prescribed proforma, to be supplied at the venue of the examination by the venue supervisor, to clearly indicate whether he/she has availed compensatory time in each of paper.

Such candidates also have the option to either bring their own scribes or to seek deployment of scribes for them by the Commission to write the examination.

On the basis of such option exercised by the VC/LDCP candidates, e-Admission Certificate would be generated in respect of the scribe to be brought by the candidate for each paper.

Candidates who have exercised the option to bring his/her own scribe should note that such scribe would not be allowed entry in the examination hall to assist him/her without valid e-Admission Certificate.

Every visually challenged/LDCP candidate will have one scribe sitting opposite to him/her and one Invigilator sitting alongside the scribe.

The scribe brought by the candidate should clearly read out the instructions for candidates, as printed on the Question-cum-Answer Booklet, and candidate should ensure that the said instructions are also meticulously followed by the scribe while writing the answers on his/her behalf.

The scribe will read out the questions to the candidate and on the instructions of the candidate, the scribe will write the answers. The candidate should clearly indicate to the scribe what is to be written so that the scribe can write the answer accordingly in blue/black pen in the answer Booklets.

The invigilator will ensure that only the answers spelt out by the candidate are written on the answer Booklets.

The scribe will make no gestures, sounds or any other form of communication designed to indicate to the candidate the correctness or otherwise of an answer being recorded by him. Any such attempt should entail disqualification of the candidate and stringent action against both candidate and scribe.

The scribe will be required to furnish his/her particulars, i.e. name, address, educational qualifications, etc. in the prescribed proforma to be supplied at the examination hall by the venue supervisor. The particulars furnished by the scribe will have to be certified by him as true and correct before the commencement of the examination. The scribed will also have to sign a declaration that he/she has read the Commissions instructions regarding the examination in respect of VC/LDCP candidates and he/she undertakes to abide by these instructions.

The candidate shall be subject to the rules/instruction of examination and action will be taken against him/her for any violation of the same.
