Announcement of vacancy of Chief Executive Officer Position

Innovation and Incubation Centre for Entrepreneurship, IICE is a Technology Business Incubator of IISER Bhopal sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India for supporting the institutional start-up activity for its own alumni as well as aspiring start-ups and entrepreneurs from the society. IICE is a registered society under the MP Societies Registration Act 1973 as an independent society operating from the campus of IISER Bhopal.

The IICE has carved out a position of Chief Executive Officer who will be responsible for overall policy execution activity and development of Institute and Industry interface besides coordinating and executing several aligned functions in an umbrella fashion with a 3600 perspective.

The Chief Executive Officer should have a proven academic and research background with a bent of business management with high motivation for carrying out industrial innovation, incubation, building huge endowments under various government and non-government supported functions with a strong orientation for corporate outreach and communications.

The CEO shall also be responsible for developing brand building and corporates spruce up activities with higher wave length for corporate communications with all the stakeholders. The CEO is expected to play a livewire for proliferating the institutional connect with National and International academic and research organizations for collaborating in academic and research areas for the benefit of faculty, students, alumni, start-ups and incubators, interns and all other stakeholders.

The person with a Ph.D in Science or Engineering streams with premier Institutes of the country or abroad and Post-Doctoral experience besides an internationally acclaimed Business Management Degree or Diploma with a proven experience in the above areas upto 3 years shall be the best bait for the head-hunt for the position of the CEO of Institutes IICE.

The salary per month on a consolidated basis shall be Rs. 80,000/- with other facilities such as campus housing, conveyance allowance, medical insurance for self, spouse and two dependent children, telephone allowance, life and accidental insurance upto Rs. 10 Lacs with eligibility for travel reimbursement for official movement. The appointment shall be on an initial observation period of 6 months and renewed on yearly basis upto a tenure of 3 years, subject to performance evaluation from time to time. The contract may also be terminated on 1 month notice or payment of 1-month salary in lieu of notice

period, on either side. The position is co-terminus with the project duration or 3 years whichever is earlier. The position is purely temporary on contract basis with a maximum tenure of 3 years in each instance, under a project mode funding provided to IICE.

The Centre / Institute eventually may also consider performance-based incentive commensurate to the discernible and quantifiable achievements, from the second year onwards.

The Chief Executive Officer shall be directly responsible to the Chairperson, Project Monitoring Committee, IICE.

The indicative and some specific job functions are as follows:

1. Ideation, Innovation, Incubation activity to furrow and fertile the ground for start-up and entrepreneurship initiatives of the centre.

2. Strengthen and expand the start-up units for alumni and societal entrepreneurship.

3. Day to day financial, administrative, technical and outreach management of IICE.

4. To coordinate the statutory functions of IICE to translate the vision and mission of the entrepreneurship centre as per the mandate by the sponsoring agency and the aspirations of the sponsoring Institute.

5. To conduct orientation, awareness and ground-breaking activities and events to fulfil the objectives of the centre.

6. National and International academic, research and collaborations, MoUs and outreach activity.

7. Creating infrastructure and background for building huge endowments through fund raising with industrial, societal, charitable, philanthropic, governmental and non-governmental stakeholders.

8. Fully garner the advantage of corporate social responsibility schemes (CSR) under the governmental framework for academic and research organizations.

9. Arrange for highly committed internships for the students to increase the career opportunities in the National and International arena.

10. Implementation of strategies for placement and career development for the graduates.

11. Creation of chairs for fostering academic and research excellence through endowments.

12. Development of strategies for internal resources mobilisation.

13. Brand building and corporate communications for positive image building better outreach, thus to increase the visibility of the Institute and perception of the

society towards the Institute, resulting into higher ranking in National and International ranking framework.

14. Community outreach and participation for upliftment of rural and under-privileged communities.

15. Institutional leadership through innovation and participation in Nation building by developing strategies to address the societal issues and challenges through scientific intervention.

16. IPR, patenting and technology transfer activity for the benefit of Institute faculty, students and start-ups of the Centre.

17. Physical and logical infrastructure and development and evaluation.

18. Advice on industrial consultancy and sponsored project proposal development, submission and follow-up for various faculties.

19. Corporate, public, national and international social media relations management strategy development.

20. Any other responsibility assigned by the Dy. Director, IISER Bhopal in the capacity of Chairman, Project monitoring committee (PMC) or the designate officials of the Centre / Institute.
