Applications are invited for the following position under the project entitled Decentralized Power Generation Using Micro Gas Turbines undertaken in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, and funded by MHRD and Ministry of Power, under IMPRINT initiative. The post is purely temporary and on contractual basis. The required qualifications, experience and conditions are described below.

Position requires computational background with M.Tech./PhD (or nearing finishing M.Tech./PhD) in Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical Engineering. The incumbent has to work in the area of optical diagnostic techniques based on chemiluminescence and laser-induced fluorescence of turbulent reactive flows pertaining to open flames and unsteady combustion dynamics of gas turbine combustors. The incumbent should be responsible for developing and running experimental facilities. Independent working style with good communication skills is needed.

Minimum qualification:
|
M.Tech. (for Project Engineer)
PhD or M.Tech. + 3 years of experience (for Senior Project Engineer)

Desired qualifications:
|
- Should have a good academic record (greater than 8 CPI or 80% marks in UG and PG Degrees)*
- Strong background in using and/or developing laser based optical diagnostics (chemiluminescence/ laser-induced fluorescence/ particle image velocimetry/ laser Doppler velocimetry/ phase Doppler interferometry) applied to turbulent/ multiphase/ reactive flows with a good grasp of relevant scientific/ technological problems and an understanding of promising approaches to their solutions
- Prior experience in design of test rig and setting up of experiments
- Experience in design software such as AutoCAD/ Solidworks/Catia
- Familiarity with using LabVIEW, MATLAB, Tecplot, etc.
- Good communication skills

Salary range:

Rs. 26400-2200-66000 (Project Engineer)
Rs. 32400-2700-81000 (Senior Project Engineer) per month based on qualification
|
Duration of appointment:
|
1 Year. Contract may be extended based on performance and availability of funding.
