Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following post for an ICSSR sponsored project titled Scheduled Tribes and Democracy: Role of Tribal MPs in Indian Parliament.
1. Research Associate-1 Post (Remuneration: Rs.16,000/- pm [consolidated]) for a duration of six months with effect from April, likely to be extended till December 2019.
Eligibility Essential Qualification: M. A. in Political Science/Public Policy or any other relevant subjects in social sciences (with minimum 55% of marks) with M. Phil./Ph. D. in social sciences or M. A. in Political Science/Public Administration or any other relevant subjects in social sciences (with minimum 55% of marks) with NET/JRF. Government of India norms will be applied in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories.
Desirable Qualifications: 1. Experience in writing reports, and should possess good writing skills in English 2. Experience in conducting qualitative research. 3. Knowledge of Hindi.
Project Description
The Project aims to explore the nature of participation in parliamentary debates by the tribal MPs belonging to various political parties and independent MPs, especially in the context of bills related Panchayat (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, Forest Rights Act and Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act. Further, it explores the role of tribal MPs in various parliamentary committees set up to address tribal issues. It analyses the nature of participation by the tribal and non-tribal MPs in parliamentary debates on tribal issues.
Job Description
The selected candidate is expected to collect primary data which involves travel to several parts of the country and other tasks related to the Project given by the Project Director from time to time. The fieldwork expenses will be covered by the Project.

Shortlisted candidates will be communicated by email and called for interview. The interview is tentatively scheduled on 29 March 2019. However, the confirmed date will be communicated via email in due course. No TA/ DA will be paid for attending the interview. The post is purely temporary and is co-terminus with the project. Selected candidates are required to join the project immediately thereafter.
