An academic /scholar of outstanding track record in the designated areas of studies. Eminent scholars/writers in the designated areas of studies; Nuclear Disarmament & Peace, Social Justice and Secularism and Nation Building.

Scale of Pay

Consolidated Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only) /per month .

Other allowances/entitlements shall be governed as per UGC norms.

5.

Period of appointment

The present tenure of the Rajiv Gandhi Chair is up to 31st March, 2019. The tenure of the Chair may be extended subject to approval of the UGC. Further, the duration of the Chair shall be up to 5 years (can be extended for another two years subject to a maximum of 7 years, not exceeding 70 years of age).The tenure of the Chair shall be governed as per UGC norms.

Mode of Application

a) Nomination by eminent person of national reputation.

Name of the candidate may be proposed by President of Academies of All India Character, Vice- Chancellor of Indian Universities, Directors of Govt. Recognized institutes, Vice- Chancellor of Deemed Universities, Institutes of National Importance, Directors of Major R&D Organizations, President of Indian Councils, Member In-charge on the Planning Commission/Niti Ayog.

b) Self nomination

Mode of selection

Appointment to Chair shall be made on the recommendations of a Search Committee with the Vice- Chancellor as the Chairperson and the Registrar as the (non-member) Secretary, and not less than three eminent persons with special knowledge or professional experience in relevant filed, to be nominated by the Vice Chancellor from a panel of ordinarily not less than six names approved by the Executive Council.

Terms of reference

May be invited to deliver lectures on special subject, teach courses and participate in other academic activities of the Department, University Institute or Independent Centre concerned;

Shall be provided with facilities for study and research, including the

conduct of research project, in the Libraries and Laboratories of the Department University, Institute or independent Centre concerned and in the Library of the Faculty concerned and the University.

Shall not be eligible to hold any office in the University or in any authority or body thereof , but may be invited to participate ( without the right to vote) in the meeting of any academic body of the Department m University Institute or Independent Centre concerned.

May supervise, at any given time, not more than two candidates enrolled for research degree programmes.

Shall be entitled to attend Convocations.

Academic Functions shall be governed as per UGC norms, guidelines etc.

The others work assigned by the Honble Vice Chancellor time to time.

10.

Leave Rules

The leave Rules shall be governed as per the provision of the Universitys Ordinance. No encashment of unused leave will be admissible.
