CIRCULAR

Engagement of Project Scientists B & C on contractual basis to work in the project mode under SAGE Program of Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi.

Applications are invited from Indian citizens for filling up the posts of one(01) position of Project Scientist C and 2 positions of Project Scientist B in project mode under SAGE programme of Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi. The engagement is purely temporary and on contractual basis. Selected candidates would be engaged for a period of 01(one) year initially, extendable till term of Project, subject to satisfactory performance of work to be reviewed at the end of each year. The last date for receiving of applications is within 21 days from the date of publication of this advertisement in the leading News paper.

1. Particulars of the Position

(iii) Emoluments : (Rs.15600 + G.P.6,600/- +other admissible emoluments

as per DST guidelines.

2. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification & Experience

Project Scientist C (1 post)

i) Masters degree in Geology/Geophysics/Seismology with first class (60%) from a recognized University or equivalent.

ii) Three years of experience in teaching (at graduate/post graduate level) or research and development in Geology/Geophysics/Seismology/Earthquake related studies supported by scientific publications.

Desirable

i) Doctorate Degree in the relevant subject or area of specialization

ii) Exposure to seismological/geophysical and geological data analysis and their interpretation and implementation of R&D projects.

Job responsibilities

Project Scientist C would help in i) implementations and monitoring of various programmes under Seismology and Geosciences discipline and ii) coordinating with different institutions, Universities and Government organizations.

Age limit (as on normal closing date):Not exceeding 40 years.

(i) Name of the Position : Project Scientist B

(ii) Number of Vacancies : 02(two)

(iii) Emoluments : (Rs.15600 + G.P.5,400/- +other admissible emoluments (under revision)

Project Scientist B (2 posts)

Masters degree in Geology/Geophysics/Seismology with first class (60%) from a recognized University or equivalent.

Desirable

i) Exposure to seismological/geophysical and geological data analysis and their interpretation and

ii) Implementation of R&D projects.

Job responsibilities

Project Scientist B would be responsible for processing of the proposals for necessary approvals and releases.

Age limit (as on normal closing date):Not exceeding 35 years.

5. General Conditions:

a) The Ministry reserves the right to cancel the engagement process without assigning any reason.

b) The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. If the number of applications received in response to advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible for the Board to interview all the candidates. The Ministry reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of desirable qualifications and/or experience. No correspondence shall be entertained with candidates who are not called for interview/selected for appointment. Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification of candidature.

c) Experience will be counted after completion of essential academic qualifications. A completed Ph.D. degree will be counted as three years of experience. In case a candidate has obtained the Ph.D. degree while in service, only her/his service period will be counted towards experience and she/he will not get any additional weight age in experience for acquiring Ph.D towards total period of experiences.

d) No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates for attending the interview.

e) Further, selected candidates shall have no claim for their absorption or regularization in any institute or against any program of MoES.

f) The selected candidates will serve in the MoES Hqs at Prithvi Bhavan, Lodi Road.

g) Applications received after the closing date or received incomplete in any respect are liable to be summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection will be entertained.

ii. Copies of certificates in support of educational qualifications, date of birth, and experience should be attached with the application. Candidates are required to produce the original certificates at the time of interview.
