Sub Engagement of Act Apprentices (in the stream of Freshers and Ex.lTI) Under Apprentices Act 1961 - Carriage & Wagon Works/Perambur, Loco Works/Perambu,rChennaiDivision, Engineering, Workshop/Arakkonam Electrical Workshop/Perambur and Railway Hospital/Perambur.
Applications are invited in the prescribed proforma, which can be downloaded from website www.sr.indianrailways .gov.in ->News&Updates->News&announcement-s> Carriage and Wagon workshop, from eligible candidates for engagement as Act Apprentices under Apprentice Act 1961 for the year 2017-18 at Carriage and Wagon Works/ Perambur, Loco Works/Perambur, Chennai Division, Engineering Workshop/Arakkonam, Electrical Workshop/Perambur and Railway Hospital/Perambur in the stream of Freshers and Ex. ITI in the designated trades subject to their fulfilling the conditions specified below:

NUMBER REQUIRED AND RESERVATIONS
Number of candidates proposed to be trained as Act Apprentices in the above units/ various designated trades I Reservation for the communities of each department are indicated below.

The number of training slots mentioned herein are only approximate and may vary subject to concurrence by Associated Accounts. The number of training slots may be revised for administrative reasons.
-
The seats reserved for SC/ST may be interchanged for want of eligible SC/ST
candidates. Similarly the seats remaining unfilled by OBC Candidates will be filled by unreserved Category. (Railway Board's letter No.E (MPP) 2002/6/10 dt.17.06.2011).

Ex.ITI Category
In respect of Ex.ITI candidates, rebate wITI be given in the duration of training to the extent of training undergone by them in the designated trades in ITI as per Apprentices Act 1961.

RATES OF STIPEND:-
a)
During the first year of training
Rs.5700/- p.m
b)
During the second year of training
Rs.6500/- p.m
c)
During the third and fourth year of training
Rs.7350/- p.m
For Diesel Mechanic Trade
The period of training undergone in the ITI shall be taken into account for the purpose of determining the rate of stipend payable.

STANDARD OF MEDICAL FITNESS:
The Candidates should be free from evidence of any contagious or infectious disease. The candidates should not be suffering from any disease which is likely to be aggravated by training or is likely to render him/her unfit for training or to endanger the health of the public. Candidates should be free from evidence of tuberculosis in any form (active or healed).
Height. Weight, Chest Measurements and vision:
-
Height 137 ems.
-
Weight : 25.4 kgs.
-
Chest measurement : Expansion should not be less than 5 Cms(irrespective of size of chest)
-
Vision : There should be no evidence of any morbid condition of either eye or the lids of either eye which may be liable to risk or aggravation or recurrence.
Selected candidates should satisfy the minimum standards of Physical Fitness as prescribed in the Apprentices Act/Rules and the standard prescribed for imparting training to the relevant trades should be certified by a Railway Doctor.

SOURCES OF ENGAGEMENT OF ACT APPRENTICES
The candidates who have registered with an employment exchange falling in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Puducherry alone are eligible to apply. However for SC/ST candidates and wards of Serving/Retired/Deceased Railway employees belonging to the above states such registration with employment exchange is not required.

APPLICATION

Applications should be in the prescribed printed form only which can be downloaded from the website www.sr.indian railways.gov.in

A crossed Indian Postal order for Rs.100/- (Rupees Hundred only) drawn not earlier than the date of issue of this notification (Not Refundable) drawn in favour of the WORKSHOP PERSONNEL OFFICER, CARRIAGE AND WAGON WORKS, SOUTHERN RAILWAY, PERAMBUR, CHENNAI - 600 023 and payable at CHENNAI should be enclosed along with fITIed-in application towards Processing Fee.

SC/ST/PWD/Female Candidates are exempted from the payment of Processing Fee.
-
Candidates should submit only one application irrespective of the number of trades/units applied for.
-
Candidates should apply either for Fresher category or Ex.ITI category, but not for both.

ENCLOSURES WITH APPLICATION FORM
Along with the fITIed in application, attested copies of the following should be enclosed.

Attested copy of certificate in support of Date of Birth
-
Attested copy of certificate in proof of Academic qualification in case of Freshers
-
Attested copies of certificates in proof of Academic and Technical qualification ( ITI certificate issued by SCVT/NCVT )in case of Ex.ITI.
-
In the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Community certificate in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority, not below the rank of Tahsildar in the case of SC and RDO in the case of ST. OBC certificate should specifically indicate that the candidate does not belong to Creamy Layer.
-
Disability certificate issued by competent authority in the case of Persons With Disability (Physically Handicapped candidates).
-
Proof for Employment Exchange Registration in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Pondicherry. Attested copy I Online Registered copy of Employment Registration Card should be enclosed. SC/ST candidates and wards of Serving/Retired/Deceased Railway employees belonging to the above states are exempted from submission of Employment Registration Card.

The wards of Serving Railway employees should get certification from the immediate supervisor in the application form. In the case of wards of Retired/Deceased Railway employees, the attested copy of Service certificate should be enclosed.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
-
The fITIed in application along with enclosures in a cover super scribed as "APPLICATION FOR ENGAGEMENT AS ACT APPRENTICE - COMBINED NOTIFICATION NO. 1/2017 /Act App/ CW /PER" may be sent to the
WORKSHOP PERSONNEL OFFICER, OFFICE OF THE CHIEF WORKSHOP MANAGER, CARRIAGE AND WAGON WORKS, SOUTHERN RAILWAY, AYANAVARAM, CHENNAl-600023 by ORDINARY POST.

The fITIed-in applications should reach this office on or before 15.07.2017 by 17.00 Hrs.
-
Applications received after this date wITI not be entertained. Railway Administration is not responsible for Postal Delay.

SELECTION
The selection wITI be on the basis of Merit List prepared in respect of all the eligible candidates who apply against the Notification. The Merit List wITI be prepared by the Committee nominated for this purpose by following the procedure mentioned as under:
-
Fresher Category :- Marks obtained in MatriculationwITI be converted for 200 and merit list wITI be drawn based on the converted marks duly ensuring Minimum 50% in aggregate marks in Matriculation.
-
Ex.ITI :- Marks obtained in Matriculation wITI be converted to 100 marks ( duly ensuring Minimum 50% marks in aggregate) + ITI marks duly converted to 100. Total marks put together wITI be calculated for 200 marks and merit list wITI be drawn based on the converted marks giving equal weightage to both.
-
For SC/ST, Ex.servicemen and PWD ( PH quota) candidates the minimum percentage of 50% marks in aggregate in Matriculation is not insisted upon.
-
In case of two candidates having the same marks, the older candidate wITI be preferred. In case the dates of birth are also same, then the candidate who has passed Matriculation Examination earlier wITI be considered.
-
For Fresher - i.e Non-ITI Candidates-Medical department : Marks obtained in 12thstandard marks wITI be converted for 200 and merit list wITI be drawn based on the converted marks duly ensuring Minimum 50% in aggregate marks in 1i h standard.

OTHER CONDITIONS:
-
The candidate should submit one application only for all the Trades/Units. He/She should apply either for Fresher or Ex.IT! category.
-
Administration reserves the right to allot the selected candidate to any of the units. Units/Trades once allotted wITI be final and request for change wITI not be entertained.
-
AcademicfTechnical qualifications acquired through recognized Boards/Institutes wITI only be considered.
-
Diploma Holders/Engineering Graduates/Course Completed Act Apprentices wITI not be considered.
-
Candidates applying for Ex.ITI category should possess ITI qualification in the relevant trade at the time of applying itself. The applications of the candidates without attested copy of SCVT/NCVT certificate in the relevant ITI trade wITI be rejected.
-
Recent Passport size colour photograph should be affixed in the space provided in the application form and attested by a Gazetted officer. Photostat copy of Photo is not permitted. Administration may reject the application at any stage for pasting old/unclear photograph on the application or if there is any variation between the photographs pasted in the application and actual physical appearance of the candidate. Candidates are advised to keep sufficientcopies of the same photograph ready for future purpose.

Selected candidates should produce original Transfer Certificate for completion of qualifying examination at the time of verification of certificates. Transfer Certificate with higher qualification (Diploma/Engineering Degree) wITI not be considered.
-
Candidates selected for training wITI not be allowed to withdraw from training except for reasons, which are beyond their control. Before commencement of training, the candidates should execute a contract of Apprenticeship. Also they should submit Indemnity bond in the prescribed format.
-
Those who wITIfully absent themselves are liable to refund the whole cost of their training as well as the amount paid as stipend as determined by the Central Apprenticeship Adviser. Also their Apprenticeship wITI be terminated as per extant rules under Apprentices Act 1961.
-
The engagement and training are strictly in compliance with the provisions of Apprentices Act 1961 and there is NO GUARANTEE FOR EMPLOYMENT to the Apprentices on successful completion of training.

Every Apprentice on completion of the period of training and on passing a test (to be conducted by National Council for Training in Vocational Trade to determine his proficiency in the Designated Trade) wITI be given a Certificate of Proficiency in the trade by the National Council.

The selected candidates should abide by the rules and regulations framed by the Administration from time to time.

If any information furnished by the candidate is found to be false, his/her candidature wITI be cancelled at any stage.
-
The selected candidates wITI not be given any Hostel Accommodation (or any other facility). They wITI have to make their own arrangements for their stay during the training period.
-
Such of those applications which are not complete in all respects and received without signature or without attested Photo or attested copy of certificate in proof of Date of Birth, Academicrrechnical qualification/Community/Disability wITI be rejected.

Applications without Indian Postal Order (Rs.100/-) towards Processing Fee wITI be summarily rejected without any intimation in this regard. However SC/ST/PH/Women candidates are exempted from payment for Processing Fee.

Applications from the candidates who do not fulfITI the conditions prescribed in this Notification wITI be summarily rejected without any intimation in this regard. No correspondence wITI be entertained in this matter.

The decision of Administration in regard to acceptance or otherwise of any application or in regard to selection of the candidates and their training even without assigning any reason wITI be final.
