RECRUITMENT FOR HIMCOSTE, SHIMLA FUNDED RESEARCH PROJECT

Applications are invited from the citizens of India for filling up the following temporary position for the sponsored project sanctioned by Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE). The requisite qualification and experience etc are given below.

Project Title: Developing a sensor based real time river flow monitoring framework for forecasting flash floods

Position: Project Associate

Salary: INR 15,000 per month (no HRA or any other allowance)

Qualification: B Tech Civil Engineering / Mechanical/ Agriculture Engineering, M Tech Water Resources Engineering with strong basic knowledge in Fluid Mechanics and Water Resources Engineering. Candidates who have done a project work using Ansys/ comsol multiphyics is highly desired. Knowledge in measurements will be an added advantage.

Number of Posts: One

Duration: The initial appointment will be for a period of one year and can be extended up to two years subject to the performance of the candidate and availability of funding.

Broad Area of the project: Developing flood warning systems for hilly watershed

Tasks: Develop a mathematical model of optical based flow sensors and simulation of the same using Ansys or Comsol multiphyics tools.

Computation of various flow patterns and scenario

Fabrication of optimised real time flow monitoring sensors

Developing a sub model testing facility to test and validate the developed sensors.

Participate in teaching and guiding the students

Project planning, components procurements, managing, executing and documentation.

Involves National and International travel

Matlab, Python programming language,

Interest in hydrologic modelling

• The candidate may get a chance for a short visit to Karlsruher Institut fr Technologie (KIT), Germany to advance the knowledge on the sensors and IoT devices.
  
  
• If the candidate has valid GATE score, this project supports pursuing MS by Research degree at IIT Mandi as per the institute guidelines subject to availability.
  
  
• This project may be good for those who wants to acquire knowledge on field study and numerical computer simulation together.
