Introduction of IASST: Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) is a premier Scientific Research Organization in the North Eastern Region of India, conceived and nurtured by the Assam Science Society in its initial years and was inaugurated by Nobel Laureate Dorothy C. Hodgkin on 3rd November 1979. Subsequently, it was supported by the State Government as its only autonomous R & D Institute till March 2009. The Institute was taken over in March, 2009 by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India as one of its autonomous R&D institutes.

The objective of the institute include (1) To create a center of excellence for basic and applied scientific research in Physical and Life Sciences. (2) To strengthen scientific research in core areas by generating funds through extramural projects. (3) To attract and motivate the young talents towards scientific research. (4) Societal interventions for spreading awareness for growth of Science and Technology in the region.

Program Summary: Out-reach & Incubation Centre:

IASST is running various livelihood support programs for farmers, weavers, artisans or other trades with the help of internal faculty, research scholars as well as students. All such initiatives are conducted in rural areas of Assam. Moreover, IASST is planning to establish a business & technology incubation center with an aim to encourage entrepreneurship development in North-East region of India in the area of Agriculture, Bio-Technology, Seri-biotechnology, New and Renewable Energy, Health and Pharmaceuticals, Sensor Technology and new material including Nanomaterial or any other field.

The center will select potential innovations from all prospective researchers of North East India and incubate to a matured business model for successful commercialization.

Position: Program Executive Outreach & Incubation Centre

Type of Employment: Contractual.

Qualification: Post Graduate degree in any science discipline with training/experience in the concerned area and working knowledge of MS- Office & Accounting application. Candidate having MBA degree with similar training/experience from reputed institution will be preferred.

Age: Up to 40 years (Preferable) as on 01/03/2017

Number of Post: 1(One).

Duration: Initially for a period of one year.

Pay: Rs 40,000.00(forty thousand) P/Month

Experience:

Work experience of around 3-5 years in the specified area or in Financial or Administrative job in private or public sector or Social development organization/NGO with excellent communication skill in English, Hindi and Assamese/local language.

Sound knowledge of drafting official e-mail / application to various government & corporate officials.

Skill in making presentation through PowerPoint & Excel files.

Desirable:

Candidate having formal training in computer application.

Experience in arrangement of seminars / workshop / training programs or industrial tours.

Evidence of volunteering with social organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Executive will co-ordinate various out-reach programs of IASST with contact persons of target area /community organization / villages and internal resources / faculty / students.

Connecting potential social groups/NGO/others for executing out-reach programs of IASST.

30% travelling of workdays to program sites and government or corporate offices

Weekly update to respective heads/faculties relevant to out-reach programs and to operational head/faculty of incubation centre/program.

Supporting administrative activities of the business incubator to be established by IASST and carry out the day-to-day operation of the business incubator facility.

Maintain database, records of projects and progress made and prepare reports on status of the incubator at regular interval.

Identification of vendors or service providers and arrangement of quotation for required supply.

Communication with program heads / external resources or students on need basis.

Performs other duties of related issues/nature as assigned by the competent authority.
