Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) invites online applications from eligible Indian Nationals for appointment to the following posts. Candidates are requested to apply online only. No other means/mode of application will be accepted.

1. Deputy Librarian 01 post (UR)

   1. Masters degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation, with at least 55% marks (relaxation of qualification for Reserved Category candidates as per GOI rules) or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven points scale and a consistently good academic record.

   2. At least 8 years of work experience as an Assistant Librarian or an equivalent position in an UGC approved University or reputed Institute Library, in the Pay Band 3 and GP: `5,400/- or AGP: `6,000/-.

   3. Evidence of innovative library service, professional commitment and relevant publications.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Desirable Qualification :

1. M.Phil./ Ph.D degree in Library science/information science/documentation/archives & manuscript keeping.

2. Experience of working in Computerized Library and knowledge of library computerization.

2. JUNIOR TECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT - 01 Post

Pay Band : PB2 ; `9300-34800, Grade Pay = `4200/-

Age: Below 30 years.

Department of Humanities and Social Sciences - 1 post ( UR)

Minimum Qualification and Experience : B.Tech /BE/ MSc/MCA or BSc with 2 years experience or Diploma in Engineering with 3 years experience. (NB : Qualification and experience should be relevant to the post).

At least 1 years experience in i) System cum network administration, and ii) Web page development and designing.

Desired experience : At least one years experience in content management system, PC hardware maintenance, network experience and office automation.

1. Dept. of Mathematics : 01 post (Reserved for SC)

   1. Experience : Five years out of which three years should be in similar working environment.

   2. Desirable knowledge:

      • In-depth knowledge of Linux environment, Unix Shell Scripts.

      • Experience in development of web based applications and sound knowledge of programming Languages like HTML/NET/PHP/ASP etc, and RDBMS like SQL Server, MySQL, and good analytical, comprehension and writing skills.

      • Adequate knowledge in the Server Hardware and Software Management functions and effectively foreseeing problems that can occur in the services that are configured in the server, and also ensuring system software configurations fixes that can remedy the problems as and when they occur.

      • Competence to upgrade the network, proactively configure to the future technologies, introduce new services, establish communication links across multiple domains and analyze system logs.

      • Knowledge in troubleshooting network devices such as routers, switches, firewall and spam filters.

      • Knowledge of asset/inventory register.

Essential Qualification & experience: B.E./ B.Tech./ M.Sc. in Computer Science/Information Technology and preferably with one year experience

Desired qualification and experience:

ii) Department of Design : 1 post (Reserved for ST )

Essential Qualification & experience : BDes/ MDes or Masters in design relevant subjects & preferably with one year working experience.

Desired qualification & experience :

Five years of working experience of video equipment, photography equipment, lighting studio, editing, video conferencing etc.

4. Students Counsellor - 02 Posts (1 SC; 1 OBC)

Pay Band : PB3; `15600 39100/-, Grade Pay : `5400/- Age : Below 50 years

Minimum Qualification : Post Graduate qualifications in an appropriate discipline from accredited and recognized Institutions with specializations in areas of Counselling, Psychotherapy and / or Clinical Psychology.

Desirable : At least 3 years experience as practicing professionals or as in-house counsellors. Experience of similar work in higher educational institutions will be given weightage.

Candidates will have to make the payment of application fees through the online mode as follows :

For Post No. 1, 3 & 4 - `500/- (for General/ OBC candidates) and `250/- (for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

For Post No. 2 - `300/- (for General/ OBC candidates) and `150/- (for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

Internal candidates of IIT Guwahati are requested to apply for NO Objection Certificate & reimbursement of application fee to the Registrar, IIT Guwahati through the concerned HOD/HOS/HOC of the Institute.

After applying online, the candidates are advised to take print out of the application form. A copy of the same along with the self attested photocopies of the testimonials regarding qualification and experience may be sent to the Registrar, IIT Guwahati, Guwahati 781 039 which should reach the Institute latest by 31.05.2017.

Relaxation of age for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Ex-Serviceman will be as per GOI rules. For internal candidates, minimum requirements pertaining to age will not be insisted upon.

Persons employed in Govt./Semi Govt. Organisations /Autonomous Bodies must submit NOC from their employer at the time of written test/ skill test/ interview, whichever is earlier.

Institute reserves the right to hold a written test and /or skill test, if necessary to shortlist the candidates and only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview.

Degrees as referred above are those which have been awarded by a recognized University / Institution.

Mere fulfillment of the minimum qualification will not vest any right on a candidate for being called for a written test/skill test/interview.
