Applications are invited for the post of Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-cum-Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India.
2. Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) is one of the Departments of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The mandate of Department of Scientific and Industrial Research includes promotion of Industrial research for indigenous technology promotion, development, utilization and transfer. DSIR promotes R&D by the industries, and provides a link between scientific laboratories and industrial establishments.
3. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is India's flagship organization for industrial research and development. CSIR covers a wide spectrum of science and technology research-from radio to space physics, oceanography, chemicals, nanotechnology, mining, etc. and provides technological intervention in critical areas such as environment, health, drinking water, food, etc. CSIR also supports extramural research and provides doctoral and post-doctoral research fellowships.

The Government may relax the criteria, if considered necessary, for meritorious applicants.

Applications are invited for the post of Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-cum -Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India.
Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) is one of the Departments of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The mandate of DSIR includes promotion of industrial research for indigenous technology promotion, development, utilization and transfer. The primary endeavor of DSIR is to promote R&D by the industries, support a larger cross section of small and medium industrial units to develop state-of-the-art globally competitive technologies of high commercial potential, catalyse faster commercialization of lab-scale R&D, enhance the share of technology intensive exports and establish information network to facilitate scientific and industrial research in the country. It also provides a link between scientific laboratories and industrial establishments for transfer of technologies through National Research Development Corporation and facilitate investments in R&D through Central Electronics Limited.
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is India's flagship organization for industrial research and development. With a dynamic
network of 38 National Laboratories, 39 Outreach Centres, 3 Innovation complexes and 5 Units, CSIR has 4600 scientists supported by about 8000 scientific and technical personnel. CSIR covers a wide spectrum of science and technology -from radio to space physics, oceanography, chemicals, nanotechnology, mining, etc. It provides technological intervention in critical areas such as environment, health, drinking water, food, housing, farm and non-farm sectors. CSIR also supports extramural research and provides doctoral and post-doctoral research fellowships.
Requirements for the post are as follows:
(i) Essential qualifications: Indian Scientists who preferably possess a Doctorate degree in relevant field from a recognized University with more than 15 years experience in Scientific and Industrial Research.
(ii) Desirable qualifications: Experience of heading a Research and Development Institution of repute, with demonstrated strength in managerial and administrative functions, with proven capacity to plan, guide and implement large and coordinated research programs in areas relating to Scientific and Industrial research.
(iii) Age: Preferably below 57 years as on the last date of receipt of applications.
The Government may relax the above criteria, if considered necessary, for meritorious applicants.
Pay and Emoluments: Apex Scale at the level of Secretary to Government of India (Level 17 : Rs.2,25,000 fixed) plus other allowances as admissible.
