Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a DST-SERB funded research project with the following details.
Title of the project: Study of thermospheric and mesospheric radiative cooling by using Nitric Oxide radiative emissions

Name of position: Junior Research Fellow (01 No)
Desired Qualification: MSc (Physics/Atmospheric Science) with CSIR/UGC-NET/JRF, GATE / M.Tech (Atmospheric Science) or any closely related area with a minimum 60% aggregate score. For SC/ST category the candidates must have secured a minimum 55% aggregate score.
Age limit: 28 years
Emoluments: 25,000 + HRA
Duration: Three years or up to the completion of project, subject to annual performance review
Job description: The project aims to understand the effects of various extreme space weather events such as geomagnetic storms, energetic particle precipitation on the Earths thermosphere and mesosphere. The selected candidate will work on developing and implementing physics based models and synergizing them with the available ground based and satellite based measurements. Students with good programming background will have an added advantage. Successful candidate can register for PhD at IIT Roorkee.
