ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

National Institute of Technology Nagaland, an Institute of National importance is a higher education technical Institute located at Chumukedima (Dimapur), Nagaland. It is one among the ten newly approved NITs by the Government of India in 2009 under the 11th Five Year Plan and it started functioning from the academic year 2010. Initially, this Institute started its journey under the mentorship of National Institute of Technology Silchar in Assam. It functioned in the campus of NIT Silchar for two years. Land for permanent campus was identified for the Institute during January 2012 and it is located at a hilly terrain area at Chumukedima near Dimapur, Nagaland.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Mechanical Engineering of NIT Nagaland is focused in producing quality Engineers who will play vital roles in various aspects of our society. The Department is determined in imparting the best quality education to its students in obtaining theoretical as well as practical knowledge in its various subjects. Additionally, the students will be taught subjects for moulding their communication and aptitude skills. Lastly, the Department also aims in producing students who will extend their contribution in the fields of research.

TEQIP III INTRODUCTION

The project, third phase of Technical education Quality Improvement Programme (referred to as TEQIP- III) is fully integrated with the Twelfth Five- year plan objectives for Technical Education as a key component for improving the quality of Engineering Education existing institutions with a special consideration for Low Income States and Special Category States and support to strengthen few affiliated technical universities to improve their policy, academic and management practices.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

The workshop will focus on improving the technical knowledge specially in the field of Mechanical Engineering for both the students and faculties located in North Eastern parts of India. The programme mainly aims to enlighten the participants in regards to the advanced techniques and methods developed in the field of manufacturing and advances in material science which will be helpful for them in their future endeavor in industries and research activities.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The aim of the National workshop on Advances in Production and Material Science is to expose the Department with advanced knowledge on Advanced production machines, smart materials, Material Characterization and their applications.

RESOURCE PERSONS

Experts from top institutions and Industry will impart their experiences in the subject matter on advanced production technology and Materials.
