Title: Lecturer in Social Sciences and Humanities Department (Sociology and Anthropology/ Psychology/LACH)
The Department of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-Delhi) is looking to hire three lecturers for the term beginning January 2019.
The number of positions per discipline is as follows:
Sociology/Anthropology: 1
Psychology: 1
Liberal Arts, Communication, and Humanities (LACH): 1
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- M.Phil. in the relevant discipline from a premiere institution with good academic record throughout.
- The candidate must possess strong communication skills.
- Should have some teaching experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates having a good track record of teaching at the undergraduate level (as indicated by student feedback).
Desirable:
- Research experience in the relevant field of specialization will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- The selected candidate in each area is expected to deliver two courses per semester in subjects specific to the discipline.
- The Sociology/Anthropology candidate is required to have proficiency in teaching the following courses: Urban Sociology, Contemporary Indian Society, Information Technology and Society.
- The Psychology candidate is required to have proficiency in teaching the following courses: Introduction to Psychology, Social Psychology, Cultural Psychology, Organisational Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology
- The candidate for Liberal Arts, Communication, and Humanities division is required to have proficiency in teaching the following courses: New Media, Communication, Digital Humanities, History of Information, Perspectives on Knowledge, Law and Ethics, ICTs and Social Transformation.
- Any other responsibility assigned on an ad-hoc basis by the Head of the Social Sciences and Humanities Department and/or the Director of the Institute.
- The lecturer will report to the Head of the Social Sciences and Humanities Department.
Pay and Other Benefits
- The compensation will be approximately Rs.1 Lac per month.
General Information/ Conditions/ Instructions
- The position is contractual on purely ad-hoc basis for a maximum of up to two (02) years and will be subject to semester - wise evaluation of teaching.
- Prescribed qualifications are only a minimum requirement and merely possessing the same will not entitle a candidate to be called for an interview. In this regard, the decision of the Institute/ Screening Committee will be final and no request for reconsideration etc. will be entertained through any means.
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed about interview and presentation dates through e-mail only.
- The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates invited for interview and presentation to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience.
- The Institute also reserves the right to reject any or all the applications without assigning any reasons thereof.
- Number of positions may be increased or decreased depending on the requirements.
- The Institute works for five days a week. National Holidays are followed as per the Govt. of Delhi notification.
- The shortlisted candidates will be intimated within 7-10 working days after the last date of receiving applications and will be invited for interview and presentation, which is expected to be conducted around second or third week of September 2018.
- Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide three letters of recommendation.
- The selected candidates will be expected to join in December 2018 and begin teaching in the Winter semester starting in the first week of January 2019.
- Any candidate working in Govt. Organization/ Autonomous Bodies/ PSUs etc. will be required to produce the No Objection Certificate before the interview and should send his/ her application through proper channel.

- Only shortlisted candidates will be intimated by 28th September 2018 4th October 2018, and will be invited for an interview and demonstration of teaching thereafter. No further queries will be entertained.
