The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) which was established in 1936 is a Deemed University fully funded by the University Grant Commission (UGC), Government of India. TISS offers Master Degree Programmes, M. Phil. And PhD Programmes in the field of Social Work, Social Sciences, Health, Management, Labour Studies, Habitat Studies and Rural Development from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad Campuses. The institute is currently looking for bright candidates to work with the Computer Centre for managing the Data Centre and Software development.

Applications are invited for the post of DevOps (1 No.), System Administrator (1 no.), Sr. Software Developer (1 No.) & Software Developer (1 No.) to be filled on contract basis for a period of one year which may be extended based on the performance.

A. DevOps (1 No.) & System Administrator (1 no.)

Qualifications and other details:

1. Graduates in IT/Computer Engineering or BSc in IT or Computers or Computer Science. Preferably with linux administration certification.
   
   
2. Core Competencies and Skills : A hands on understanding of a GNU/Linux distribution preferably Debian or Ubuntu, Strong command of the BASH shell commands, Strong command of at least one shell based editor preferably vim or emacs, Strong understanding and command of the GNU/Linux user/group/other permissions and ownership at PAM and structures, units and divisions at LDAP levels, Strong understanding and command of the GNU/Linux ext3/ext4 file system and hierarchies, Shell scripting, along with minor sed and awk skills is a bonus, Strong understanding and command of Apache, SSH(D), SAMBA, LDAP, Cyrus IMAP, Postfix, Dovecot, Round Cube administration and deployment
   
   
3. Handle the hosting environment including routine updates and planning and management of longer-term infrastructure upgrades
   
   
4. Management of the storage infrastructure including backups and general IT maintenance
   
   
5. Software management (updates and configuration; scripting & automation) of a live hosting infrastructure
   
   
6. Manage the Data Center and Data Redundancy centre and Servers in Cloud Environment.
   
   
7. Provide level 3 troubleshooting support to users end.
   
   
8. Manage DNS system for Internet and cloud domain.
   
   
9. Manage email and authentication services. These services include following technologies postfix, openldap, dnscache, spamassasin, Roundcube, php, apache2, dovecot and iptables.
   
   
10. Manage configuration for server farm switches, core network & edge switches.
    
    
11. Manage Xen Virtualization servers, Kernel based Virtual machines, Docker based Containers & Open Stack.
    
    
12. Do kernel level optimization for Linux servers and routers for performance enhancements.
    
    
13. Added Bonus Qualifications : RHCE/RHCT and/or CCNA/CCNP certifications, Working on MacOS X
    
    
14. Duties and Responsibilities : Troubleshooting, Problem diagnosis and solving under high pressure environments, Upgrades and updates of existing software, Configuring and deploying above stated applications, Documenting work and system changes, Good communication skills and teamwork capabilities
    
    

Experience & Salary DevOps:-Minimum 3-4 years of experience Rs. 60,000-65,000 consolidated salary per month System Administrator 1-2 years. Rs. 35,000 40,000 consolidated salary per month.

B. Sr. Software Developer (1 No.) & Software Developer (1 No.)

Scope of work: Software development, Software maintenance, Software testing, training. Documentation.

Qualification: Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) or B.E./B.Tech. (Computer science / IT) with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

Skills:

1. Experience in working with free and open source softwares
   
   
2. Experience in working with any of the GNU/Linux distributions like Redhat, Debian, CentOS, Fedora practical.
   
   
3. Candidates must have an experience in developing web based applications using free and open source softwares. However, candidates having experience of developing web based applications specifically using Java/Python, Struts/ Django , postgresql/ mysql will be preferred.
   
   
4. Experience of working with java script, jquery , CSS and html
   
   
5. Experience in working with version control systems like GIT, SVN.
   
   
6. Experience in hosting applications and basic system administration skills is preferred.
   
   
7. Candidates having experience on working with ERP systems or having experience in developing ERP Systems will be preferred
   
   

Experience & Salary

Sr. Software Developer:-Minimum 3-4 years of experience

Rs. 50,000-55,000 consolidated salary per month

Sr. Software Developer 1-2 years.

Rs. 30,000 35,000 consolidated salary per month.

Upon selection the software developer will have to sign a bond for a period of 1 year.
