The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) which was established in 1936 is a Deemed University fully funded by the University Grant Commission (UGC), Government of India. The TISS offers 46 Master Degree Programmes in a range of Socially relevant inter-disciplinary of Social Work, Social Sciences, Health, Management, Labour Studies and Habitat Studies from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad Campuses. It has a strong M.Phil/Ph.D programme a high degree of freedom and autonomy shape the positive work ethos and creativity in the Institute. The Centre for Education Innovation and Action Research (CEIAR) is an Independent Centre at TISS Mumbai which was established in 2015 to engage with and promote innovation in school curriculum, teacher education and higher education curriculum and pedagogy. The Centre incubates and promotes innovations that address the needs of India education to raise quality and standards and relevant to the developing world, and the innovative use of new technologies and media. The Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx), which the flagship programme of the Centre was awarded the UNESCO-King Hamad Prize for the Use of ICTs in Education (2017 edition).

The Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx) is an innovative field action programme launched by the CEI&AR, to improve the professional and academic prospects of high schools students from underserved communities in India. CLIx incorporates thoughtful pedagogical design and leverages contemporary technology, including online capabilities, to provide quality educational content and experiences at scale in the areas of Mathematics, English and Science along with the development of Values. Teacher education is an integral part of the initiative. The initiative aims to reach a total of approximately 1,000 schools and 150,000 students in 4 states, as well as conduct professional development for approximately 4500 teachers. Interview: The eligible candidates will be communicated by an e-mail and mobile phone to appear for the interview to be conducted at Telangana in the week of 28th May 2018.
Application fee: The application fee of Rs. 500/-be paid on-line. For SC/ST/PWD candidates the fee is not applicable. The application will be valid only on receipt of the application fee for those who are required to pay. Fees once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

Job descriptions
1. Field Technologist (FT)-Two Positions
Field technologist will closely work with state and district teams to ensure that schools computer labs are functional and up with all the required softwares and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to field teams, Computer Lab Assistants in the area of computer operations and maintenance.
- Maintain, repair, update, test research software and packages, based on program requirements.
- Installation, test and maintenance of platform package, based on linux distribution (eg. CoreOS, Ubuntu), other modules and open source software.
- Work with Field Resource Coordinators to ensure they have tech support at district level.
- Develop district technical resource group and provide them technical assistant to address all the technical issues.
- Platform data collection, collation and support for analysis of data collected under the program.
- Provide support to Research and Monitoring teams to develop instruments.
- Assist the Lead Technologist in carrying out various tasks.
- Provide support to project management, administration, research and documentation at the central and state levels.
Desired Profile/Skills:
- Basic Computer hardware and networking knowledge.
- Good understanding of Linux based OS and its usage, and other open source Softwares.
- Familiarity with other operating systems, N Computing will be add on.
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment
- Must be willing to learn and acquire new things
- Must be willing to undertake extensive travel and for extended periods of time, to implementation sites.
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English, Fluency in Hindi and Telugu speaking is must. Telugu reading and writing will be of additional advantage.
- Self-motivation and ability to multi-task and deal with stressful situations
- Ability to support field teams and partners
- Interest in large scale reform processes and development.
Qualifications: BE / B. Tech / BSc. (Comp. IT) / MSc. (Comp./IT) / BCA / MCA or equivalent, with computing and networking background
Experience: Post graduation + Min. 1 or Graduation + Min. 2 years of experience in networking, hardware and Technology management projects
Remuneration: Gross annual remuneration of Rs. 3 to 5 lakhs (25000 per month upwards). Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
Location: Karimnagar and Warangal, Telangana with frequent travel to implementation sites.
2. Consultant - One position
Consultant will be working closely with SCERT, Telangana and the implementation team primarily on implementation of teacher professional development, student module implementation, scaling and research & documentation.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Working under the SCERT Director and help in day to day ICT related activities.
- Should be able to visit schools across the state whenever required.
- Should be capable of updating all events of SCERT on the official website on a regular basis.
- Should be able to generate reports. (weekly/monthly/quarterly)
- Should be able to work on Excel Databases.
- Work closely with the State Implmentation team.
- Documenting of field activities; trainings/workshops, field testing, implementation of curricular offerings
- Monitoring implementation of the programme
- Research and documentation on the on various themes of field intervention.
- Co-ordinate/ organizing orientations/programs, as necessary
- Work closely with the state teams for building local ecosystem (educational institutes, volunteers, resource groups) and facilitate their involvement in the programme.
Experience:
- Experience in working with field teams involving coordination etc,
- Experience of planning, managing and executing projects

Remuneration: Gross remuneration for the position will be in the range of 20,000 to 25,000 per
month. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
Location: Telangana with travel to intervention states/districts.
