Full time position Counsellor

Tata Institute of Social Sciences and School of Human Ecology invites applications for the Field Action project titled Counseling and interventions in Family Courts. The current project aims to address psycho-social concerns of litigants of the Family Court by providing psychotherapeutic services to individuals and couples in distress and to promote their overall emotional wellbeing

Starting Date: 25th June, 2018

No of positions: (1 part-time and 1 full-time) Qualification: M.A. in Counseling/Clinical Psychology is required along with a minimum 2 years of experience working in the field in the capacity of a Counselor. Preference will be given to those candidates who have additional qualifications such as having completed specialized courses in Couples and Family Therapy OR demonstrating direct experience working as a couples/family therapist. The candidate should have proficiency in English and Marathi.

Job responsibilities:

1) This position will entail working with individuals and couples who are currently undergoing matrimonial disputes at the Family Courts of Bandra and Thane. The Counselor will provide individual and/or couples counseling to the couples from these respective courts. 2) The Counselor will also be responsible for conducting group counseling and/or workshops for the key stakeholders of the court system. 3) The job also entails liaising with the respective Court officials such as Marriage Counselors and Judges for referrals. 4) Documentation of the work conducted at these centers in the form of reports is expected. 5) Networking with womens organizations, Family counseling centers and other services that are relevant for litigants psycho-social well-being Duration: The appointment of both these posts is for 1 year which can be renewed in the following year. The Counselor working with the part-time post will work for 2 full days at the Courts. The Counselor working with the full-time post will work for 4 days at the courts. The part-time and the full-time posts involve traveling to both the courts (Bandra and Thane) in a week.

Additionally, the Counselors may also be required to travel to TISS for meetings and trainings as scheduled.

Salary: Rs. 22000/-per month for Full time position and Rs. 11000/-per month for part time position.
