Under the alternative qualification of Eminent Scientist all those candidates shall be considered who have been decorated with (i) National/International awards/ recognitions such as those conferred by National Organization like ICAR, CSIR, DBT etc. Government of India, International Bodies of repute like FAO, UN etc., (ii) Fellows of one of the recognized National Academies viz., National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, National Academy of Medical Sciences, Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Academy of Engineering, Indian National Science Academy, National Academy of Sciences or equivalent National/International Academies, and (iii) Minimum of 10 publications in journals having NAAS rating (applicable from 01.01.2016)* of 7.5 and above. To remain in close touch with the Institutes under his charge by examination of technical programmes and reports by occasional visits, special emphasis being given to items like requirements of additional buildings, equipment or staff and conduct necessary consultations with Directors of the Institutes before the annual estimates are formulated for submission to the Council.

4. To act as Technical Secretary of the Scientific Panels, Research Review Teams or any other research review groups on their periodical visits to the Institute.

5. To maintain a record of research in progress within his branch and arrange advisory board, Committee Meetings, Seminars, Workshops etc. for research workers as may be desirable to facilitate coordination research.
