Saksham which means "Capable" or Self reliant in Sanskrit is a TISS project that implements counseling services for Drug Resistant (DR) TB patients in collaboration with the Mumbai District Tuberculosis (TB) Control Society (MDTCS). The programme supported by the Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria was initiated in August 2014 as an extension of the HIV counseling capacity building initiative.

Terms of Reference for the position of Research Officer, Saksham

1. Assist the Research Manager in strategic decision making in relation to research study and implementation and liaison with RNTCP programme.

2. Review of literature on various aspects of TB counselling and related with research project understanding.

3. Undertake data collection, translation, transcription, analysis, case study and report writing.

4. Lead and co-ordinate the work of the Research Investigators.

5. Assist in any other research work needed.

6. Any other task assigned by Research Manager or Supervisor(s).

Required Qualification: Masters in Psychology/ Social Work/ Public Health/ Other Social Sciences.

Experience: 2-4 years of working experience in research project(s).

Essential Skills:

Quantitative & Qualitative analysis.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Proficiency in SPSS, Atlas Ti, Ms-Office.

Desirable Skills:

Experience in the field of TB Counselling/ HIV will be preferred.

Willingness to travel extensively.

Knowledge of state language is a must.

Translation & transcription experience.
